New Line Cinema's Special Extended Edition of The Fellowship of the Ring features a couple of hilarious Easter eggs. In order to see an MTV spoof of the Council of Elrond scene, simply insert the first disc and do the following:

  • Highlight the 'Select a Scene' option, then press enter on your remote
  • Once in the menu, highlight 25-27 in the lower right hand corner and press enter
  • Press down on your remote until a gold ring appears (as in the image below), then press enter

To access a hidden promotional trailer for The Two Towers, insert disc two of the set and follow these instructions:

  • Highlight the 'Select a Scene' option, then press enter on your remote
  • Once in the menu, highlight 48 in the lower right hand corner and press enter
  • Press down on your remote until a pair of towers appear (as in the image below), then press enter
