As with the The Fellowship of the Ring, and The Two Towers before it, New Line Cinema's Special Extended Edition of The Return of the King features a couple of hilarious Easter eggs. In order to see a fake interview with Elijah Wood, in which Dominic Monaghan interviews him in the guise of a German journalist, simply insert the first disc and do the following:

• Highlight the 'Select a Scene' option, then press enter on your remote
• Once in the menu, highlight 33-36 in the lower right hand corner and press enter
• Press down on your remote until a gold ring appears (as in the image below), then press enter

For yet another Easter egg, in which Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn pitch movie ideas to Peter Jackson, insert disc two of the set and follow these instructions:

• Highlight the 'Select a Scene' option, then press enter on your remote
• Once in the menu, highlight 77-78 in the lower right hand corner and press enter
• Press down on your remote until a gold ring appears (as in the image below), then press enter
