4 Hr Oliver Stone's "Alexander" is coming to disc! I found this interview on Oliver Stone, and he says he doesn't want to waste the unused shots and scenes he took for "Alexander", so he is going to release an extended cut to DVD.

I love Oliver Stone, yet I hated the theatrical Alexander. Then again, this could be another Kingdom of Heaven DC. Hmmm...

the thing about the "director's cut" of Alexander is it's bogus because Oliver Stone's true director's cut is gonna be the 4 hour cut cause he wanted the homosexual scenes in and I wouldn't even call them homosexual it's just some looks from Jared Leto's characters and a kiss or 2

3 different version of the same film? That must be breaking new ground surely.

And here I was thinking I was clever by picking up both the theatrical and (so called) directors cuts up for 5 quid each.

This is all really tish and fipsy though isn't it? The directors cut was shorter then the theatrical version. It was supposed to be a tighter edit and what, with a little more time to view it objectively, Oliver Sone wanted. By being able to shorten it, he must have believed that it did play too long and now less than a year later he's saying, 'Nah, actually it could do to be another hour and a half longer.'

Still, it's his movie so screw it. Lets be avin' it then. The longer the better.

Then they can release the theatrical onto HD-DVD and wait for fans (sorry fan) of the film to moan about not having the directors cut. Then a few years down the line, the extended cut will be released and fan will still moan at the lack of a true directors cut. Cynical? Moi?

They're already doing this. Lethal Weapon on HD-DVD (theatrical cut when the directors cut is already on DVD)

T2 on HD/BR, (theatrical cut only when extended version is available). I pity the poor wallets of the early adopters.

A I was writing that I knew there must be already films out there with more than 2 differing cuts to them. You are right about T2 though. I'd forgotten about the future coda that could be tacked on to the end. I'd never really thought of that as a 3rd complete cut though.

I suppose Blade Runner now falls into the 3's club (sorry 4's club) with the theatrical cut, the International cut, the Directors (rush job) cut, and the Final Cut.

Anyone else no of films that have been released in 3 or more different versions?

I love Oliver Stone, Alexander wasnt the best film but it didnt suck as badly as everyone says it did.

This film wasn't even remotely good. Even the battle sequences were drawn out.

I really liked the tc of the movie so I will definately have to get my hands on this. Aside of the bad reviews it got, I personally think its pretty good.
