Yes, that's right, ladies and gents...the dreaded ultimate double-dip, with no prior warning.

In a $10-off coupon insert within the 2-disc DVD, WB is releasing an 5-disc ultimate collector's edition this December.

It's contain a "whole new movie".  The DIRECTOR'S CUT with the TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER woven in.  Don't ask me how that'll work.  Weaving in an animated feature in a live-action film, or they've filmed the sub-plot, I don't know.

It'll also contain a new commentary and 2+ hours of bonus content, plus THE COMPLETE WATCHMEN MOTION COMICS.

So there it is folks...if you didn't see it coming, and I know, I didn't...be prepared to shell out even more if you're a big fan of the movie.

Only just ordered the Dir Cut a few minutes ago. Never mind. Not a rabid fan but I wanted to see the longer cut out of interest and feel we (UK) are being stiffed somewhat with the release of just the theatrical version for now at least.

Various interviews with Snyder over the past few months.

The information was pretty widespread and easy to find if one were to look for it.

Um my brother bought the 2- disc dvd and all there were was for inserts was digital copy stuff, a "The end is nigh ad" and a watchmen book ad on the other side of the "end is nigh" stuff. I don't see a $10 off coupon for the ultimate edition.

I guess Lincoln6Echo bought the Blu-ray version, cause it's included in the BD set. I can't use mine, so you can have it. *teleports coupon to Chrisman25 with accompanying blue light flash* hehe

The Director's Cut BD turned up yesterday and it looks really good. I haven't had the time to sit and watch it through end to end but the 'In Movie Experience' device looks smooth. It's a similar experience to watching Rambo with Bonus View and I quite like that as well. You're watching the film but it stops and starts while the crew/director explain various aspects without it actually seeming to stop and start.

However, the extras on disc 2 are as much of a let down (to me) as they were on The Dark Knight BD. About an hour and a half of people talking about how cool the comic is, how Dr Manhatten works, or who real vigilantes are. Admittedly, I've only skimmed the extras but coherant footage on the actual making of the film is very thin on the ground.

Having said that, it's a good first release, and for my money, worth having over the UKBD's theatrical cut.

....Once they save up the eight billion dollars necessary to buy it.

Ughh, it better include the original Director's Cut without the lame animated feature. I don't want to spend 4 hours watching this movie. -_-

Already owned the DC BD and the Steelbook BD already. I'll probably snag this 5-Discer as well...

Please tell me the "Ultimate Edition" will be released on DVD & not just on Blu-Ray!
