The Internal Philosophy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone:
Why am I watching this dreadfully boring movie? When did Chris Columbus become a celebrated director?

I mentioned this in another forum as well and they said it was because the word "Philosopher" would "scare" little american children and make them not want to read the book and see the movie if it had something to do with "philosophy".. (because philosophy is boring) LOL
(yes I know the movie doesnt have to do with philosophy)

The states will never get the proper version because you dirty hippies have the wrong version of the book so it'd only confuse things. Not that it's hard to do anyways. :p
Maybe we poor americans who could not handle the 'Philospher's Stone' title will get it in our region one day with the inevitable rerelease. I never understood the change, espesially since JKR is so involved with the usage of certain words and direction of the books/flicks. I still dont see how it would have made a differance in the books if we had it released properly.
Nope not dubbed. They filmed each scene when anyone said it twice (plus re-takes obviously). I think they cut down the number of times it was said so that it wouldn't be too much of a nightmare.
One would think they dubbed..
Did they have to film all the " Sorcerer" bis seperatly then?

I just did a quick definition search on the two words and can't really see any similarity at all.
Philospher

a person who is deeply versed in philosophy.
a person who establishes the central ideas of some movement, cult, etc.
a person who regulates his or her life, actions, judgments, utterances, etc., by the light of philosophy or reason.
a person who is rationally or sensibly calm, esp. under trying circumstances.
Obsolete. an alchemist or occult scientist.
and
Sorcerer
a person who practices sorcery; black magician; wizard.
Hmm.
