Another Romero Flick?!
From Comingsoon.net:

"George A. Romero will write and direct George Romero's Diary of the Dead, which his company Romero-Grunwald Productions will produce with Artfire Films.

The storyline revolves around a group of film students who encounter real zombies when making a horror movie in the woods.

Voltage Pictures has picked up worldwide sales rights to the pic, which Artfire is fully financing. Production is slated to begin October 11 in Toronto.

Romero also is set to write and direct the thriller Solitary Isle for Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park Entertainment. He most recently wrote and directed George A. Romero's Land of the Dead."

Am I the only one here that does not want to see it? Land of the Dead was one of the worst films last year IMO, and this one only sounds c**ppier, like a teen horror flick. If there is a god, we can make this one be the last... or better cancel the project.

Well, Romero's zombie films are some of my very favorites ever, but this film sounds like a huge step backword. If he's going to make more zombie flicks (and I think he should hold off on the genre) they should be the direct LOTD sequels that were rumoured last year.

Land of the Dead wasn't even close to one of the worse movies made last year, probably not even in the bottom 25%!  I actually liked it quite a bit.  Romero's social commentary can be a bit heavy handed at times, but then again most people need to be slapped across the face to get it.  Very Happy

I liked the earlier ones too (not including Night of the Living Dead, I still have to see that). But besides that and Land of the Dead, the other ones were really good, especially Dawn.

I agree with Mr. Badass, if anyone here is taking Romero's zombie films at face value and not picking up on the social commentaries within, you're missing out on quite a bit.

Yeah, but the public domain prints are awful.  It's well worth spending the $12 to get a good print of it.

I treasure my Legend Films release of it, with Mike Nelson of MST3K commentary. The colorized version is interesting as a novelty, but I'm glad it contains the original B&W version.

Which one is that may I ask? I am in the market for it and saw one for cheap (but had no cash on me). It had both on it, and the cover was green with them coming out of the sea (???). Is that the same one you speak of? (Sorry if I'm too vague, I'll try to find a picture of it)

Don't know about the sea, but it is green and has zombie silohuettes (too lazy to spell that right). It says colorized version on the cover, but says on the back that the B&W version is included as well. It's usually around $10 at stores around where I live.

Yeah, that's the one. Sorry, I couldn't really remember it that well and I remembered thinking that it was about sea monsters until I saw it and went: "Oh, ok... It's "NOTLD"..."

Is it worth it? I mean, yes the price is right, but are the features and everything, picture, sound worth it?

There's various options from a 64Kb MPEG-4 streaming video to a 4.1GB MPEG-2 file (ie suitable to burn to DVD):

That's also a good site for getting Bogart's 'Beat the Devil' free of charge, it too public domain. It's collection of live music (all legal) is awesome.

I'll try that one out, thanks Mal Happy

Okay, I went out today and bought it at HotTopic. Seems pretty good, I'll sure have a look of it tonight.
