I was checking out the new and upcoming discs on dvdaficionado.com and found this coming soon from Lionsgate...

"Stargate" 130mins Director's Cut THX Optinum Resolution. Release date is just two weeks away - November 21st.

How come I have not read any news here at dvdactive???

How many versions already of this film is out there?!!

Why buy this when there's just a matter of time before the HDDVD release with even higher resolution will be released? I don't see the point. Unless you plan to stick to your old DVD player of course.

If an HD release happened it would end up being Blu-ray.

Actually, a Blu-ray release already released two months ago - August 29th.

I'm perfectly happy with the 2 disc Ulitmate Edition that I own, so I'll skip this if released.
