we have a „movie festival” what will be on the end of august, and then we can watch both movies (with the fake trailers) at once
I guess, there's no like this in the whole Europe :D

Well they've at least learnt the art of the scam just as well as the old grindhouse directors, distributors and producers!
More bad news. This time it's the R1 dvd release of both Planet Terror and Death Proof. Edgar Wright and Nick Frost had a panel at Comic Con promoting the DVD for Hot Fuzz. Amidst all the news about the DVD Edgar Wright put a real damper on the evening saying that the new seperate releases of Death Proof and Planet Terror will not include the faux trailers. Instead they will later package them up and do a double disc release sometime in the future.
Sad really because the faux trailers were some of the best parts of the entire experience. So this means we will have to wait even longer to get our hands on those lovely faux trailers on DVD. I was going to wait anyway however because I knew they would bundle them together. Unfortunately though if you didn't like one of the films but loved the trailers you will be forced to buy both films to get the trailers.
Well I guess thats DVD buisness for you.

planet terror comes out 10/16/07 just saw the grindhouse sample dvds at comic-con they're a steelbook

Planet Terror = Spoof, all good fun
Thunderbolt = Homage to Grindhouse cinema
I liked both, but I prefer Thunderbolt because it was more reminiscent of the films from that era, the whole point of the movie. No CGI, no big explosions, overhead shots, helicopters, etc. etc.

hahahaha planet terror was far better than death proof.
The whole point was to have an old time Grindhouse double bill experience (just because morons walked out after the first film not knowing does not mean we should all pay) complete with trailers and interval.
No idea if the films are any good or not, but i want to see them as they were painstakingly designed to be seen!
I'll just wait for the DVD (but again, a DVD viewing is not the way this package was meant to be seen).

Wrong! Death Proof was pure boredom for the first half, the 2nd half was better, but by then, I felt like walking out. Planet Terror wasn't faithful to the Grindhouse genre, but it was far more entertaining than Death Proof.

this is blasphemy, this madness. "Planet Terror" is ever so kickass

If they are not going to release both films then surely there is no point in splitting them in the first place. I thought the split was designed to make money from two releases rather than just one. With that plan they would still only make money off one film.
With the amount of c**p that gets shown in cinemas I would be surprised if Planet Terror didnt make it.

Bad news for Grindhouse fans in the UK!
I checked IMDB today and Planet Terror is not listed for a cinema release! Only Deathproof. A friend who works in the cinema told me Planet Terror is going straight to dvd! I hope this is not the case!
