Taken from Michael DVD's review page, this is the difference:-

The Region 4 version of this set misses out on:

- Audio Commentary for the pilot episode. With Richard Hatch, Dirk Benedict and Herb Jefferson Jr.
- Approx. 1 hour of deleted scenes for the episodes Lost Planet of the Gods, The Lost Warrior, The Long Patrol, The Young Lords, The Man with Nine Lives, Murder on the Rising Star and Experiment in Terra (to be confirmed).
- Composing the Score featurette
- Video game preview trailer
- 6 Chapter stops per episode
- Animated menus with audio
- French and Spanish subtitles
- Episode guide collector's book (I only received the test discs for review, so the Region 4 retail packaging could include this, but I have no indication of this.)
- Cylon head packaging (Available in Australia through as a limited 3000 units only exclusive)

The Region 1 version of this set misses out on:

And this also applies to the Region 2 U.K. version

I actually sold my region 4 DVD and bought the Region 1 version due to this. When I first bought the region 4 DVD, it went on back-order from my australian supplier, they actually had the description wrong and they emailed us and said the seventh disc was an ad-on. Not good.
I say stay with region 1.
As a follow up, dvdpacific has the region 1 boxset for about £35 before postage. If that helps.
I have the American region 1 edition and it has all of the features that the region 2 posseses, along wiht a few more such as a commentary on the first episode. Check out for the full details.
Battlestar Galactica (Old Series) Should I Go For Region 1 or 2 ?
Hey DVDAnswers Members,

I'm getting interested into buying the old series of Battlestar Galactica, and not sure if I should go for region 1 or 2,

Region 1 is £45.99 and has a cool dvd cover and a book, 6 dvds and not that much features from what it seems,

As for Region 2 its half the price, 7 dvds, a not bad cover, loads of features and half the price compared to region 1, its at £20.99

Do you own this dvd, what ya think I should go for ?
