blu-Ray essentials
if you had to pick 10 blu-ray releases which are must have essentials and 10 sets on DvD which are still good with an upscale 1080p dvd player which would they be?

I would say...
Iron Man
The Godfather
Transformers
Kill Bill
Planet Earth (Amazing at 1080p)

Apocalypto (still my favorite transfer thus far)
Speed Racer

Speed Racer
Meaningless thread with so many movies not available on BD yet
Well, not really, since the question was 'if you had to pick 10 blu-ray releases which are must have essentials', not 'if you have to pick 10 theoretical releases that haven't arrived yet'.
It's just that the studios are adding BD titles at a fast rate to catch up on potential sales, the list would likely change each month

Ah yes... the lovely "this will change a lot, soon" perspective. I'm a PS3 user, so i know all too well about this affliction.
In this case, since it's a discussion thread, therefore amendable in the long term, I think it's safe to say that it wouldn't be "meaningless" at all.
For my personal top BDs, I'm into Speed Racer, Pixar Short Films, Across the Universe and Lost Season 4. And I dont own Transformers because I'm betting there's going to be a new version sooner than later, but that's a great BD too.
