Sony is setting themselves up for a major loss between the inevitable failure of BLu-Ray (I've a feeling that HDDVD won't do too much better for a while, but will become the standard) and the over-priced, long delayed PS3. I'm not much of a gamer, but I've been a Nintendo fan my whole life, and really thought they were going to die with the Gamecube, but it's looking like the Wii might actually be a big seller, and Sony's camp seems to do nothing but talk s**t lately. Don't bad mouth the compitition guys, show them up.
Not to mention that their film wing is putting everything on Spider Man 3, which will obviously make money, but if it costs 300 mil it can't possibly make enough.

It's what happens with a format war... hardware, firmware, media, standards and software will be rushed, if you are a film enthusiast then give the early adopters a year or so to test the technology; only then start thinking about jumping in, don't do it now unless you have the money/time to burn. From my own past experience with DVD+/-R, I would also avoid first generation multiple format players if/when they appear - unless they get glowing reviews.
thedigitalbits.comjust did a review of blu-ray the other day. To their suprise, they say it sucks even harder then HD-DVD. Man, when it comes to high def on disc I've never seen a sadder launch of any product since New Coke.

Hahahahahahahaha! Now that's funny!
Apparently, like the HD DVD, it's not meeting up to expectations... Looks like DVD may be around longer than we had thought... (Yay!)
