I still say the original Tartan Oldboy is pretty good, definitely the best the film has ever looked on home video.
Near Dark is one to avoid, it's a muddy mess.
I've heard terrible things about all the Dragon Dynasty Blu-rays, and Media Blasters' Ichi the Killer, so I haven't touched them.

The Gulliver's Travels (1939) BlU-Ray is best to avoid. Terrible picture, matted to 1.78:1, and no love.
I wouldn't specifically advise someone not to buy it, but I found the transfer of Close Encounters of the Third Kind particularly disappointing. I saw this film whilst at secondary school and was the first Blu I ordered after buying my player.

I once had an argument with the editor of What Hi-Fi? after she said exactly the same thing. The CE3K transfer is actually pretty good considering it's an early one for the format. It's supposed to be grainy and a bit soft. There are too many positive reviews for it to be 'bad'.
It looks Miramax is phoning in all of the catalog releases they've put out so far. I may still pick up From Dusk Til Dawn just because its a step up from the non-anamorphic R1 DVD, and its cheap.
I think the Close Encounters BD looks incredible for it's age. Never sure which version to watch though, the original theatrical or the director's cut. Not my favourite Spielberg but it has grown on me over time.

Gladiator - Yeah, you knew this one was coming. I bought it at one point, ignoring what I had read. Big mistake.
Paprika - A lot of review sites gave the image on this disc a good score, but I could not get over the aspect ratio. To prevent overscan on older non-hdtvs, the image on this blu-ray has been matted. If you are watching it on an hdtv that isn't zoomed in, you will see black bars surrounding the entire image. This bugged the hell out of me.
Oldboy - Both the original Tartan R1 BD release, and even more so the re-release with the entire Vengeance Trilogy leave a lot to be desired. Colors seem washed out, edges are messy, and every time the camera is moving you get all kinds of noise and distracting artifacts. I really wish they would put some time and money into a new transfer and give this movie a release it deserves.
Amadeus - While certainly an upgrade from the Directors Cut DVD, I found this blu-ray to be underwhelming in image quality. The image has a very compressed look to it, and doesn't seem to bring the movie's color to life any more than the DVD did. This probably wouldn't disappoint many too much, but being one of my favorite movies this was personally a letdown.
