Buena Vista re-branding soon!
News just in, Disney is re-branding some if not all of its different entertainment divisons. Read here...

Disney Drops 'Buena Vista'

The Walt Disney Co. is dropping its "Buena Vista" brand and will rename several of its entertainment divisions, according to a Bloomberg report. The move comes as part of a company-wide effort to reduce costs and simplify marketing by narrowing the company's holdings to the core brands of Disney, ABC and ESPN. In February, Touchstone Television became ABC Television Studio and Buena Vista Games changed to Disney Interactive Studios.

Buena Vista Distribution, Buena Vista International and Buena Vista Home Entertainment will be re-branded in the coming weeks. Touchstone, Miramax and Pixar will remain unaffected for the time being, however, according to the report. The Buena Vista moniker was named after the street in Burbank, California, where the studios and corporate headquarters are located.

The more global these companies think, the less need there are for things like DVD regions.

Mal, you are so right! But I still wish companies like Warner would release their se's of certain titles like Network on R2 so there would be less reason to buy from different regions! I am sure the fact we all buy R1,R3 and R4 versions of discs damages the dvd trade in the UK.Infact it proberly damages all the regions in each big dvd buying countries around the globe! What damage is done to the US and Canadian markets because people there are buying in R3 DVDs as an example? It is just a question!Still wish Criterion would open up a branch of their company in the UK and release their backcatalogue etc as I am not a big fan of Optimum!
