Okay. I just got back from seeing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with my GF. There was one thing I didn't understand.


About 30 minutes into the movie, Veruca and Violet say lets be best friends. Then about 20 minutes after that when Violet turns violet, Veruca gives a dirty look. What does this mean now? Does it mean that they are now getting into a rivalry or something? Please, can someone explain it.

It means that the girls were never friends, and were being false to each other because they are selfish and deceitful.
