Criterion Blu-rays coming!
First on their slate to be released on Blu-ray are:

The Third Man
Bottle Rocket
Chungking Express
The Man Who Fell to Earth
The Last Emperor
El Norte
The 400 Blows
Gimme Shelter
The Complete Monterey Pop
Contempt
Walkabout
For All Mankind
The Wages of Fear

They said the first batch are due out in October and will be priced to match the standard releases since their standard discs go for Blu-ray price anyway.  With the exception of HD Picture and sound, no additional extras seem to be included with the exception of Walkabout which will get a brand new release.

If you read my notes on the bottom you will see I wrote that they are not going to raise the price of the format. So HD will be the same price as standard....and 50 bucks?! I own tons of Criterion releases and I think the most I ever paid for one was $60 for the Seven Samurai box set (which was SO worth it!) but other then that I usually don't spend more then $30-$35 for one.

Was just thinking the same thing. Plus, I was watching Rushmore the other day and that movie would SHINE on HD.

Cool stuff - Love their work!
This will truly test their worth when they fix up the old film to the quality that BD can show....
