I adore Deadwood. The poetic yet raunchy dialogue is great. I recently bought the cheaper HK season one disc, and was a liitle disappointedto find that it doesn't have THAT much rewatch value, but it's still pretty great. Probably the only HBO series I've fallen in love with, I was never a big fan of The Sopranos.
wow never got into Sopranos?! I would buy the Boxsets in a heartbeat but they're waaaaaaaaay too expensive for me and will only buy em if I can see a good deal somewhere...thanks for your comments about Deadwood though
I love Sopranos from the bottom of my heart, this is better. The acting is great, the photography is great, everything about it shines. Its more of a mood show that Sopranos. Hope that helps you out.
definately does, I'm gonna buy me the boxsets thanks dudes
Deadwood is excellant. I was a little unsure until about 3 hrs into the series but from them on I was hooked on the goings on. I have Season 2 but havent watched it yet.
The Sopranos is excellant but the best HBO series you can get is Oz (VERY closely followed by Band Of Brothers)

Oz really was an amazing show, probably my favorite right next to south park when I was in college. That show isnt exactly for everyone though. BoB was amazing too but it was only a mini series
Deadwood gets a so-so from me. I've never really connected with the characters, who are all mainly shades of grey rather then the traditional white or black hat.
deadwood is pretty decent but I'm not into the whole wild west cowboy criminal thing so I think i'll just stick to the sopranos

i think thats why the show is so appealing, its how the wild west was. It was everyman for himself, do or die. Not exazctly the Lone Ranger type thing.

Ive been thinking of buying the boxsets but want to know what the majority think
