he..a little question.... Which of the 3 movies form the series about Dr. Hanibal Lecter was the best in your opinion...and which was the worst..........and ofcourse why?

P.S. I wrote "which of 3" couse the old Red Dragon movie "Manhunter" was not a part of trylogi with Hopkins as Lecter.

I can't imagine that Silence of the Lambs would not top everyone's list of these movies.  After all, it is one of only 3 movies, to win best actor, best actress, best director, best picture, and best adapted screenplay.  Easily one of the best movies made in the 90s.  The other two are on par with each other.  I know some hate Hannibal, but after reading the book and being so disappointed with the book, I thought the movie was much better.

Manhunter is the 3rd best for all...

I have huge problems with Hannibal (a plot that goes nowhere, style over substance...), yet I did find it far more memorable than Red Dragon.

Silence of the lambs
Manhunter
Red Dragon (Though a totally unnecessary remake of Manhunter with the novel's correct title)
Hannibal

The first one was the tops simply because of the initial impact of Hopkin's performance.  I remember walking out of the theater with some friends when Silence of the Lambs opened and we all felt disturbed and unnerved by the Hannibal character.  We speculated that it's what audiences must have felt like back in the 1930's when they first saw Lugosi's Dracula or Karloff's Frankenstein.  Hopkins was riveting---but he always is.  I had the good fortune to see him in his New York stage debut in 1975 in Equus---masterful!  But I will have to admit that my next vote would go to Hannibal for that grisly dinner scene with Liotta toward the end of the movie.  One of the most disturbing scenes in the history of the movies!

I really liked Red Dragon! I think the combination of Norton and Hopkins is just the right ingredient, and Kaitel is always a good supporting actor to have. Anyway, I havn't seen Manhunter, but I think Red Dragon is just a little behind Silence of the Lambs.

Read an interview with Anthony Hopkins in which he said that Red Dragon was his personal favourite.

Mine is Silence of the lambs.

Can't believe there is another Lector movie on the wat this year 'the teenage years'!

I can't believe that the new lecter movie would make it out this year.  I thought they were waiting on Thomas Harris to finish penning the novel.

1. Silence of the Lambs
2. Hannibal

3.Red Dragon (I f**king hated it, pointless remake, with great actors acting bored, and the s**ttiest, non-art direction I've seen in a long time. The film had no style it's own.)

What was your favorite?  I favor the original.

I have to agree with Gabe except I also thought that Hannibal sucked as well....

I love Hannibal as a peice of over stylized freak show. Thought it was super entertaining and fun. Silence is the only of the films that is a truely great film.

Silence of the Lambs.

After that, in my opinion, it almost felt like Anthony Hopkins was doing a characteration of himself playing an iconic figure.
The need to be live up to a uberlegend was played to hard core.

Manhunter rules. Brian Cox owns Hopkins.

Yeah. Hopkins is useless. What's he ever done that's good. Not fit to lick Cox's boots. Acts like he's never acted before.

Guys, come on!  A Lion in Winter, The Elephant Man, Howard's End, Remains of the Day, Dracula, Shadowlands, Titus, even Zorro for crying out loud!  And that's on top of the Hannibal trilogy.  Anthony Hopkins is a magnificent actor.

I love "Silence" but they should have Mr Hopkins do a cameo for the "Young Hannibal" movie
