Does this also apply to the content of the DVD itself? Then I'd have to say any piece of video before you get to the menus that you can't skip.
Let's see... you have the trailers for movies you don't care about and will never see, the studio logo, the distributor logo, the Dolby Digital and/or the THX promo and finally it's vaguely implied that you're a criminal for "stealing" movies.

But the RRP informs the price of the finished product. Granted you may get the odd loss leader, but if stuff was sold to the retailers cheaper then they could pass that on to the consumer.

Options that are locked during playback, such as the ability to switch subtitles on and off, switching audio tracks, and skipping pre-menu trailers or warnings.

Yep, PUOPs suck. They're also the problem with skipping the FBI and copyright warnings etc. Nothing pisses em off more than not being able to switch audio tracks on the fly mind you. WTF should I have to go back to the menu to change audio or subtitle options? It's worse when doing that makes the film start at the beginning again. Lazy programming.

Without a doubt...mine is when the blasted DVD doesn't bother to include the ACTUAL movie 'trailer'... I don't want to have to watch 'em on the internet...

I hate double sided discs. I have had trouble playing more than a few of them, I get tired of returning them. I had to return the Frighteners DC at least twice before I got one that played properly, I have returned almost half of the Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea Volumes and a copy of Carlito's Way. I wish the studios would quit using them.
I guess one is release dates, being able to get items quicker and cheaper from the states then in the UK.

Dunno if this works for everyone but when there's locked down stuff before you get to the menus then put your disc into your player and start it up. As soon as the duff stuff starts showing switch your dvd player off. Very quickly switch it on again repeatedly pressing the menu button on your remote. On my Pioneer player this puts me straight at the menu without having to sit through 5 minutes of "Piracy is theft" b*****ks...

People complaining about scene index cards. I've never even had a look at any of these. Just press the menu button and go to scene selections.I guess it's a lot faster with HD DVD (don't know about blu-ray) but it doesn't take that long even on DVD, so why would we need these?

Press it against the spine and then rapidly pull it away and what's left of the shrinkwrap should be removed. Can also be used to remove leftovers of the plastic strips themselves.

tv sets not keeping any order in their packaging -
example- Region 2 Stargate Atlantis
season 1 - in a clear (with like a puddlejumper printer on it and some fish or something) slipcase, and a holograph front.. pretty
Season 2 - slipcase no print on it, no pretty front
Season 3 - A box (then i ordered the region 1 anyways as it was far cheaper)
and now i see them in shops and they are all normal boxes.... and the sleeve design! GAH!
season 1 and 2 had Wraith on the side and a start of a stargate picture that would all line up once you had all the dvds and make a big picture (like VHS used to do with farscape and buffy etc) and then the 3rd season failed to have either on (the region 2 release)
now Monk... for a show about someone with OCD you think they could be consistant... NOPE!

Digipacks that have panels that hold 2 discs so you are always taking out multiple discs just to get one.
Warner Bros. releasing TV shows with more than 2 discs in amary cases with a bunch of flaps instead of using digipacks.

I hate the way every Paramount release has the language select option pop up when you put the dvd in. Its annoying when you put a disc in, forget about it and come back a few mins later and its still waiting for you to select English. Oh that annoys me greatly sometimes.

The re-issue of Casino Royale has a sticker on the outer cardboard sleeve. The card has a matte finish to it so now, mine has a tacky oval shape where the sticker used to be.
I'VE GOT A TACKY OVAL PEOPLE! COME ON!

One of the things that annoys me is language selection on certain studios DVDs. You have to scroll through about 6 pages of frankly obscure languages before you get to the 'UK' option.
I am sure that the UK is the biggest selling area in the region, so why not just put a shortcut for it on the first page?!!

I'd say that Germany is probably the biggest DVD market in Europe and not the U.K. plus no language is obscure to a native speaker.
