If you're feeling ungratefulness from any of the staff here it probably stems from the insinuation that those of us who post news here don't know what we're doing by telling us we "need to keep up". I think I can speak for everyone else involved with the site when I say it's pretty offensive, especially considering the fact that most of us contribute to the site in our free time and do so because we enjoy what we do here.

It also smacks of ignorance, because you have no idea how the studios and public relations firms handle the announcement of titles to the media and retailers. When it comes to releasing details on an upcoming release to the media--which includes DVDActive.com--the studios usually place an embargo on that information, meaning that we are obligated to not post anything about a release until a certain date even if we know of it in advance. Some sites disregard these embargoes, which is their choice--we do not. Retailers such as Amazon are not held up to the same rules as the media, so many times they will make release information available to the general public a bit earlier than what we are allowed. Other sites repost news on releases gathered from other sites, which is another practice that we do not participate in, although every once in a while we are contacted by another site or an individual with information. If we post this info we always give credit where the credit is due, unlike some of the other DVD news sites around the 'net who have lifted images and/or news write-ups verbatim from this site and others without any credit to the original source.

If you want to post upcoming release dates that's fine, but trust me when I say we know what we're doing--we are after all in the business.
My God!

you call that criticism? please!

Who's whinging? I just made simple comment & I'm the one whinging? Have you looked at what everyone else is doing on here? There the ones whinging over a stupid comment. Grow up! my god!

You would think I would get thank you for at least telling everyone the release dates of titles that already been offically announced on such places as amazon.com, dvdtown.com, dvdverdict.com, & videoeta.com

I'm just trying to help inform everyone on other releases & just get a bunch of ungratefulness.

I think Scotland needs to sit back and think through before posting such criticism. First of all, DVDactive WOULD NEED more than just release dates - they need official details of the DVD releases as well as cover arts, etc. So as soon as they have them, then they can post them and then we can read about them.

So please stop whinging. If I can wait, so can you.

Keep up the good work Tom and Chris.

Looking forward to "Enchanted" in March.
Come again? Yoda was interfeering..

That may be true for some folks. I would like to see some increased coverage on classic movie releases and Criterion updates, as well as  music and TV on DVD news. I guess in the end to be well-informed, one needs to scan through a number of web sites . This holds true with general news, never rely on one source

DVDactive Updating Releases
DVDactive is usually update but they haven't been as of late. I mean there has been alot of announcements for new releases to DVD/Blu-Ray/HD DVD. I mean I haven't seen any of these announcements of these titles on here yet & I'll show the release dates as well.

-No Country For Old Men (3/11)
-I Am Legend (3/18)
-Before The Devil Know Your Dead (4/15)
-Hitman (3/11)
-Into The Wild (3/4)(It was 2/12)
-Things We Lost In The Fire (3/4) (It was 2/12)
-Lions For Lambs (4/1)
-The Great Debaters (4/29)
-Resurrecting The Champ (I have seen on here but it shows it's release on 2/26 when it is actually 4/1)
-Enchanted (3/18)
-The Mist (3/25)
-The Water Horse (3/25)
-Awake (3/11)

And there are more but come on DVDactive you guys need to keep up. I do like this site alot though just cut down on informing us of these horrible & horrific B-movie horror films.
