Yeah? They've planned it for 3 years from now? Interesting....
I would have thought they did eveything they wanted to with the massive Boxed Set

Not quite, The Matrix disc inside that expensive package is nothing more than the SAME disc you can buy for $10 at Best Buy. What should come on the 10th Anniversary is a NEW disc with new menus and features.
And as innovative as that movie was (just check how many movies have ripped it off since) it deserves a 4-disc, because there are a ass-load of extra features that I am aware of that they have. They spent 6-months ALONE on learning the martial arts in the movie, that said, they have alot of extra film lying around.

I don't doubt that there's material available to release for an eventual SE in the future, but Matrix Disc in the boxed set is definetly not the same individual disc that has been available since 1999. I have both and the menus are clearly different, fitting in with the are & are DVDs. Chris even did an amazing article comparing the different versions HERE.
I'm just wondering where you have heard about a new edition being prepped.

Nowhere it's just a DVD that I can guarantee is coming, because if garbage movies like Garfield get SE's than I'm sure that Matrix will get one. Or maybe when long rumored Matrix: Genesis comes out we can expect it.
Director7, movies like Garfield get SE DVDs to capitalize on their upcoming sequels... it's a marketing thing.
A re-release of the original is possible, but in my eyes somewhat unlikely. I have the ten-disc set and it's more Matrix than I'll ever need. There's no way Warner could possibly offer me anything to want to upgrade any of the films in it.... short of alternate versions.

Weren't they released already in SE?
Not in region 1.
Do Americans generally not invest in multi-region machines then? It seems that way from the majority of posts I read. Someone else mentioned Lady Vengeance and The Great Yokai War, both of which are already available (there are at least four different versions of Lady V).
Guess I'm just used to everyone I know having a multi-region machine, or at least one that can be made multi-region. Even my sister-in-law's little 14" TV/DVD combo can be hacked.

Honestly, I don't even know if my current DVD player is Multi-Region. It probably is, but I only own Reg1 DVDs. It's not that I don't like DVDs from other regions and wouldn't want any of them(That I, Robot LE with Sonny's head was amazing looking), typically either the price tag doesn't justify importing and I WAY prefer picking up a DVD in person to make sure the cover isn't damaged. On the rare occasion that none of the stores in the 5676 malls with 2 miles of me doesn't carry a DVD I'm looking for (i.e. Dazed and Confused Criterion), I'll order through Amazon.
Plus, with most major studio releases, we seem to get them first so we don't usually even think about having to import.

Chris, most of us are stupid/stubborn, that's all. Even though I have a hacked player, I'm still hesitant to order from other regions... it's gotta be a title I really want.

so I'm looking forward to the Brak show and Sealab 2021 the most..I'm definitely a fan of the old Adult Swim shows.
what're you looking forward to the most?
