I was referring to the R1 discs from Media Blasters and Tartan, usually I will only get imported versions when I know there wont be an official R1 release (i.e. Casshern Ultimate Edition, Down to Hell, Azumi 1&2, ect.) or if they are simply superior then the R1 (i.e. Ichii the Killer 3-disc set, Ultimate Versus).

Hold on? Ichi the Killer three disc set? If you're talking about the UK release with the anime, then it's had about three minutes cut out of it. If it's one of the three disc sets from eBay then it's a bootleg.
Yeah it includes the anime but I don't think it is the UK release because nothing is cut out of it, I have seen the rated version and used to own Tokyo Shock's R1 uncut release and it is identical to TS's unrated version....plus the plot on the back is in Dutch, and the quality looks far to good to be a bootleg.
I want the 7th Heaven DVDs to start being released Again. Seasons 3-10.

It's a bootleg. The quality would be exactly the same as an official DVD seeing as it's a direct digital-to-digital rip-off. Bootleg doesn't automatically equal c**p.
Stuff like this always shows up on eBay, but they are region free bootlegs of the official DVDs. I did some research before buying the uncut Dutch two-disc release and I found no legitimate mention of a three-disc set. Even the UK release is just the two-disc and the anime bundled together in a slip case. I believe our very own Gabe has a similar release to yours.

Hmmm, looks like your right then. But I do have to admit, for a bootleg it is sure great quality, still doesn't make me feel the least bit sorry for getting rid of my Media Blasters R1 for it though, but thanks for the info.

I'd say this is generally true. I'd go even further and say that most Americans don't even know or understand region encoding. I don't know if either my Sony or Pioneer can be hacked, but I just don't really care that much. There is plenty for me to watch in region 1.
Another reason would be the PAL/NTSC issue. I'm not sure how many multiregional players or even the TV sets themselves can handle both formats. If it were just the region encoding, I may hack my player for the few titles that are available in other regions that aren't available here. But, I am not sure what else I would have to do to convert the video.
Also, the cost of importing other regions would put me off. I've said it before, but other that Criterions, it is hard form me to justify paying over $16 for a new DVD. You just have to wait 6 months and the price drops.
