I think you are seriously misinterpreting the meaning of the term 'epic' with some of those selections.

Finally, the greatest epic I have seen in many years, and we got three of them.
Lord of the Rings 1,2, and 3.
Did I even need to include? :D

-I saw about 20 minutes of Troy and it was okay.-
Troy had so much going for it, but I didn't agree with the way they went with it. Brad Pitt was seriously miscast in that movie.

I loved Alexander. I saw about 20 minutes of Troy and it was okay.
epic movies
King Arthur? You mean with Clive Owen? I didn't see that one but I felt it wasn't worth the time. But, then again, I saw Troy. Was disappointed by that. Kingdom of Heaven was grossly underrated. I thought that was very well done! Too bad people are getting sick of these kind of movies. They won't give a movie like that some credit! Alexander, the first time I saw it on the screen I was a little bored by it. But I decided to purchase it anyway and you know, watching it again, it really isn't as bad as I thought. It just took a few more times to digest everything before I found myself to enjoy it. I'd also like to add Seven Samurai and Hero to the list of epics.
Epic movies
I want people to tell their favorite "epic" movies.
Here's my top (no particular order):
Spartacus
Ben-Hur
Braveheart
Gladiator
Lord of the Rings
My bottom (again, no particular order):
King Arthur
Alexander
Troy
Kingdom of Heaven
