I like the 20th anniversary set
Intergalactic Ponce wrote: Sorry fella. I didn't mean to speak for you. But as you rightly say, if there is info on a release, then you'd have posted it.

I suppose in a round about sort of way, I was just reinforcing that point.

Again, apologies.

Oh I forgot. Great Star Wars article. I haven't seen a better one on my travels round the web. Haven't bought the Discs themselves yet. Seeing what happens to the price as we get nearer to Xmas.

Hehe, I was actually being complimentary. I actually did laugh out loud when I read it, cause it's exactly what I would have said. Oh, and cheers about the Star Wars stuff. Took me long enough to do them, so I'm glad they're useful.

LOL, I needn't bother with you around.
Wishful thinking I suppose *dreams of a 4-disc set*
Since yesterday? It appears not.
any news on a 25 anniversary edition?
Yeah. The Earth is dying from green house gasses. Elliot sends a message into space to ET, because he's now a prominant 'sending radio signals into space' engineer and father to Mary, his autistic 6 year old daughter. ET, along with his buddies arrive to save the day with special plants that (wouldn't you know it) absorb green house gasses. Before ET leaves he cures Mary of her autism by touching her 'right here', and they all board the mother ship and take off into the night.

Or something like that.

I really, really hope that was a joke and that you didn't take that line literally...

For the record, I was joking, but it would not surprise me.

NO SEQUEL!

I have the "LE" as well, worth it.
Some of his changes were not all that bad, and I liked the inclusion of the add'l footage.  Removal of the guns was silly, but at least George Lucas did not convince him to allow his ILM people to CGI newer versions of those Star Wars action figures for better product placement.

It is. The '82 version is better than the '02 version, but then I'm old enough to remember crying my little eyes out at the cinema when it was first released. I've got the original two-disc R1 release with both versions, but the shorter documentary (which is still very good). Think I reviewed it at some point.
Ahh. I would lose any sleep over it then. Unless, as I said, you'd like to have a look at the 82 version. Also, I think the main documentary is longer on the 3 disc set but without it in front of me, I can't confirm that.
No I am of the age where I seen it in cinemas in 02 though, thought it was great
I have the 3 discer. It has the untouched 1982 theatrical version on the 3rd disc. If you're interested in that then it is worth the upgrade.

I would think it's highly likely there'll be a 25th Anniversay Edition, if Jaws is anything to go by. A 25th and a 30th. Whether they offer up the '82 version again is anyone's guess.

It's amazing how offering the choice of the original and the special edition together meant that people weren't bothered about any of the new additions or changes. George Lucas should listen to his old friend on these matters. As long as you offer the choice of both, you can do whatever the hell you like to your old films.

Having said that, I don't really mind the special edition of ET, but it's nice to have the original as well, just for old times sake.

What are your thought on the changes to the special edition. Are you of an age whereby you saw the original in cinemas in '82?

I have the 2 disc version from 4 years ago, is it worth upgrading to the 3 disc? I just found out about the 3 disc but can't see it on any high street retailers website, is it out of print? Is there going to be a 25th anniversary edition next year?
