I would have to cast my vote for the 1990 version of Memphis Belle. The thing I like about it the most is that the characters were cast authentically---young! WWII was, for the most part, fought by kids. My runners up would be The Deerhunter, Platoon, Apocalypse Now and Enemy at the Gates.
Apocalypse Now, Patton, thin Red Line, Platoon, Full Metal jacket, and Enemy at the Gates
Apocalypse Now Redux & Buffalo Soldiers
Dirty Dozen
Full Metal Jacket
Southern Comfort (an allegory about the Vietnam war)
Hamburger Hill
Bullet in the Head
Platoon
Missing in Action and Rambo III - Don't bother sending the US Army just send Rambo and Chuck to kick ass!!!

As of a couple of weeks ago, Taegukgi. Ending isn't as strong as it could be, but neither was Private Ryan's. Rest of it is bloody brutal. Need to get hold of the director's cut actually.
My top 5 in order (1st my being favorite):
1. Full Metal Jacket
2. The Deer Hunter
3. Apocalypse Now
4. Paths of Glory
5. Lawrence of Arabia

2. The Deer Hunter
3. Apocalypse Now

5. Lawrence of Arabia
Same as Chris, Taegukgi.
Terms of Endearment ...Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger were at each other's throats. Actually it was a catfight.
I just thought Taiguki was too sappy. Private Ryan was pretty sappy, but there was something about the emotions that rang true rather than hallow to me. But hey, I'm the guy who thought Bullet in the Head was too heavyhanded, and eveyone seems to think I'm wrong on that one. Private Ryan really is my favorite war film, in spite of its weak as s**t bookends.
Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now and Platoon

mine would be:
TORA! TORA! TORA!
Bridge to Far
Das BOOT
Brothers in Armes
