Have you actually seen the original Psycho? It's timeless, there was absolutely no reason to remake it.

...and what a fucking stupid idea to hire Vince Vaughn to fill Anthony Perkin's shoes. He has good comedic timing; but other than that, he sucks. Swingers was a highly overrated indy dreck.

Unless those unoriginal ideas are made into decent films. Eg Spider-Man 2.

For the most part, that doesn't happen.

Comic books have been translating well because they are really just an expansion on something larger. Star Trek and the X-files sorta fall under the same category.

My beef isn't really with sequels anyhow, there are far too many shallow ones, but what I can't stand are remakes. I think the perfect example of how ridiculous remakes are was Van Sant's shot for shot remake of Psycho. What was the point? I could have made a shot for shot remake. It was literally blatant plagerism. The only reason it was made was to rake in cash. I HATE that.
So far I'm not really looking foward to anything. Movies nowadays are either sequels or remakes. The original ideas are gone.

In either case, the public gets screwed for decent entertainment.

Don't they have any original ideas for a movie anymore? Sad

Sadly, the answer seems to be NO!

why? two possible reasons I see. Old men keeping the positions at hollywood studios who all ran out of ideas long ago. OR, young men at hollywood studios who see dollar signs and lack any talent. Probably a combination of both. In either case, the public gets screwed for decent entertainment.
So Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six are getting made? i hope R6 follows the book and not the games
I don't think Terminator 4 is gonna be finished for 2006. Just a theory.
Yeah, Superman is currently being filmed in Australia.

But, wait, what about "Wonder Woman"?
I keep hearing that Sandra Bullock is filling the role. Hope she gets it, although I would'nt mind Catherine Zeta Jones or Jennifer Garner. Any other suggestions for the role?
Tom
Supermans next year too isn't it?

Wow, that's a severe case of sequelitis.
