AHHHHHH!!! Die for that Goonies comment!

Well the Back to the Future Trilogy I liked but it's not my favorite.

I liked Superman better than Hulk but Hulk is underrated and is nowhere as bad as people say.

And I haven't read the LOTR books.

I don't think that too many people actually rate Kevin Smith films particularly highly, so calling them overrated is perhaps a little extreme.

Well, he does read the site, so maybe I should think twice before bad-mouthing him. Hey Kevin, I totally own Clerks, Mallrats and Dogma.

The guy has a small cult following mainly internet nerds, and hasn't made a film that's been a huge box office hit, at least Navy Seals had made more money theatrically and on video than any of his shit

Until he makes a movie that's financially successful then he can bitch about what's great and what's not, otherwise he should just shut the fuck up!!!

Agree with Gabe on all counts! Including Goonies and BTTF although 1 & 2 are quite good.

Can't comment on Infernal Affairs but I prefer to think of Donnie Brasco as being low key rather than mediocre. Pacino gives a beautifully understated performance. Like when his son is in hospital due to a drugs overdose, the choice to have his back to the camera (and Johnny Depp) as he is crying is bloody genius. It might seem like an obvious thing to do now that the film is made but to come to that decision on the day, to play it like that, without showing us in an obvious close up that he's distraught, is in itself one of the things that makes Donnie Brasco not mediocre. In my view.

As far as blasphemous statements go can we add 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show was and is a bad idea?' Whether it's the musical or the sing-a-long movie, nothing makes my teeth itch more than this phenomena.

I f**king hate Rocky Horror, if you want to see a good rock opera see either Phantom of Paradise or Tommy.

Kiss asses...by the way, I own two copies of Mallrats plus a VHS tape somewhere, two copies of Dogma, one each of Chasing Amy, Jay & Silent Bob, and Jersey Girl, and finally two DVDs plus one signed by Kevin Smith laserdisc of Clerks that's honestly seen better days.

How DARE you!Wink  Infernal Affairs is one of the best movies of its genre in the world.  The whole trilogy was so incredibly good.  IF2 was better imho, but IF1 was the shizzy.

Donnie Brasco however, totally agree.  Good but certainly not great.

F**k Phantom of Paradise, Little Shop of Horrors rule, as well as Rocky Horror.

Pink Floyd: The Wall is way better than Tommy.

I found IF3 far to explanatory, it would of been better if they just left us with a bit of mystery instead of forcing feeding us what their motives were.

Donnie Brasco's cool because it's got Pacino and Depp and it's a true story, although they did give the wrong impression that Lefty got shot in the end when in fact they sent him to prison and died of cancer.

Neither Ang Lee's Hulk or Donner's Superman were great movies.  The benchmark for superhero movies has been set by Spider-Man 2 and Batman Begins.  Lee's Bruce Banner was miscast.  In the comic books Banner is a 98 pound weakling with a great intellect which creates the dichotomy of the Hulk/Banner character.  Donner's Superman is a better film, but falls apart with the introduction of Lex Luthor and that's a major script problem.  Too bad, because Hackman is a great actor and would have done well with good material.  But, Luthor and his cronies are played as buffoons and it would be impossible for anybody over the age of 8 to view them as a threat to Superman.  Captain Hook can be played as a buffoon and is still a threat to Peter Pan because he is an adult and Peter Pan is a boy.  For Lex Luthor to work the character has to be played as serious and in control.  Check out the great job the Smallville writers have done with their take on the Luthor character.
