George Lucas lost marbles?
Not sure if this has been posted, but seriously;

"Harrison Ford turned down a $47 million pay day to make a new spin-off 'Star Wars' movie.

Hollywood legend Ford, 64, snubbed director George Lucas' big bucks offer in favour of playing heroic archaeologist Indiana Jones again."

Why is the title of this thread 'George Lucas lost marbles'? Surely it's Harrison Ford who's lost his mind for turning down a huge pay-day?

What's this 'spin off Star Wars movie' all about. Is it just recent reporting of decade (or so) old news or have I been under a rock the past few days? We know about the new animated TV series and the new live action series set inbetween Eps 3 and 4 but I ain't never heard of the slightest possibility that there'd ever be a new spin off, presumably an Episode 7 of sorts.

What gives? And anyway, who is Hans Solo (source article)?

Sound like a whole heap of not true.

No, I'd say Lucas as well. A Spin-Off movie? This is a new "vision" of his to my knowledge. What happened to: "After 'Episode III', I'm done with 'Star Wars' movies"?
Let sleeping dogs lie Lucas!

I don't think there's any truth to the rumour in the first place, so it's not really an issue.

NO!  Wake up those sleeping dogs!  I have a few more dollars to spend on the franchise.

In all seriousness, I'd be thrilled to see episodes 7-9 come to fruitation with the old cast and all.  Yes, the rumor mill says it is just an urban legend, but personally I'd support it!!!

George has a proven track record of saying one thing to people and then making a complete turn around on those statements, so I can only lump the "After 'Episode III', I'm done with 'Star Wars' movies" and "It's Anikan's story, he is dead, so the story ends with him." statements in with the other 'non-accurate comments' from the past.

HEY GEORGE: Recast Harrison Ford and make the film!!!  You own Han Solo's look, so CGI it on a look-a-like, or CGI him in his entire performance!  (((DVDActive readers, I am not sure if I a being serious, sarcatic, or making fun here, but I will let you know when I figure it out.)))

I hope it's the last 2, and I agree with Chris, I don't think it's an issue either.

I can not find any new reliable source on this, so it probably, most likely, 100% won't happen, but I freely admit I would love to see it happen.  I will stand my ground and think there is an audience for it, and I can admit I would be one of the first to buy my ticket if it ever was made.

I`m sure Harrison doesn`t need the money.. anyway no more Star wars tripe please ..

Maybe they should leave Indy alone as well, but they aren`t so here`s hoping it comes close in quality to the original three..

Indiana Jones is Lucas' creation as well - he is the executive producer of that franchise so why would Ford decline one and play the other - this makes no sense whatsoever.

If it were true, (which I don't believe it is but lets just play along anyway), if Ford were offered both roles, I would suspect that he choose Indy over Solo because it would represent the opportunity to do some more with the character and work with Spielberg and Lucas to get there. With Han Solo, he's just a cog in the machine or an overall story that Lucas would have mapped out leaving Ford with little input and very little to do. Pretty much like in ROTJ. Existing only to wrap up a cliffhanger from ESB, chuck stormtroopers about and run like he's cacked his pants as he runs away from the bunker exploding. Oh hang on. Ford runs like that all the time no matter what character he's playing. It's true. Check it out.
