I know.. I'll wait for the double feature which WILL include the fake trailers as well !
i saw those at the comic con verrrry cool
Figured I'd resurrect this to ask my question.
Death Proof releases this Tuesday. I have decided that I am going to get it, and Planet Terror (when it comes out next month)
Now, I want to get the steelbook, but it's $5 more than the "standard edition" so far. Is there anything exclusive to the steelbook editions a la "The Departed" (postcards)? Or is it just $5 for the steelbook itself (which is a bloody ripoff because "Departed" and "300" cost the same no matter which edition it was)?

I'll never understand that. It's not like the people on the screen can hear you.

I agree. I think it's a British thing. Stiff upper lip and all that. What what.

It's a sign of respect. Like staying after the credits to "acknowledge" the people who worked on the film.
and to whoever said "doesn't it defeat the purpose of a grindhouse?" no it doesn't because the grindhouse was usually AT the theater not at home.

Respect? Hm, I always thought it was just a group of over excited yanks whooping and hollering...like they always do?
:p
:p
Saw QT on J Ross on Friday night... seems folk do not want double features any more, they just don't have the time and so the split.
So... Anyone have an answer for me? (Non-sarcastic please, much appreciated.)
Just making sure: These releases are the EXTENDED VERSIONS right?
...Anybody?

Don't know about other retailers, but the Best Buy Steelbook version has a third disc, plus with either release there's a $5 off coupon for Planet Terror.

Even though I hate QT movies I am curious about these...anyone fancy buying the Best Buy steelbook for me and I'll paypal them the money over?? (Seriously)
Anyone?
Anyone?
I could do it for you, Nic. If you're interested, e-mail me and just mail franchise@ohmb.net with something in all caps.

Ah, cool, thanks. It's Future Shop doing it up here, but they're essentially the same. Website is awful though, so it's impossible to know what the extras are (even for the regular edition.) Thanks, much appreciated.
Well I'm thoroughly pissed... There's no coupon with my DVD. Plus it semi-advertises four poster cards on the packaging (doesn't explicitly say they are included, but why would there be pictures of them?), and it's just empty on the inside.
Whatever, it's only $5, but it's the principle dammit... I paid $5 more for this one.
If I brought it back, saying it's supposed to have it (the coupon) in there, and show that the standard edition has it, do you think they'd give it to me? Or is it a lost cause and essentially another disadvantage of living in the glorious province that is Quebec?
And while joke/sarcastic answers are alwaus being spewed about lately, I'd really appreciate an actual answer, sooner rather than later. Thanks.

You could go plead your case and depending on the clerk you may get some kind of discount towards PT, but is doing all that and the time involved really worth $5? I was actually surprised to see the $5 coupon in the package to be honest since--unlike the regular edition--the Steelbooks do not explicitly say there is a coupon included.

Well like I said, I paid $5 more for this one. And for people without a whole bunch of money at the moment (like yours truly), yeah, the $5 would be kinda worth it. But I get your point.
I doubt any clerk would give me a discount like that anyways, they're not too bright here. I mean that as in, I'll explain the situation, and they'll be "Tarantini? Oh ok, so Plant Tear? We don't have that one in stock. Try the one downtown."
I'm just aggrivated because I paid the extra $5, thinking I would get it back for Planet Terror. You win some, you lose some, unfortunately, I always seem to be in the latter.

Slipcase?
And I've never heard of the slipcase like they have that I got at Best Buy for the Kill Bill movies.
Dude, hae you posted my DooVDé yet?
A week ago tomorrow.
Woo!
DVDWorldUSA.com have Planet Terror R1 in stock in case anyone's interested...
it might be a long time until we see the grindhouse double feature! we still don't have the epic version of kill bill.
On the Ten Minute Film School feature on the Planet Terror DVD, Robert Rodriguez does state that there will be a proper Grindhouse DVD coming out.
Supposedly there will be a limited cinema release of the full "Grindhouse" double bill in the UK!
I'm probably not going to get an answer anytime soon, but whatever.
My question is this: how exactly is 'Planet Terror' "Extended and Unrated"?

Personally, I like both Steelbooks, but by releasing them seperately destroy the whole purpose of Grindhouse in the first place?!?!
