Grindhouse
Have any of you guys in the US seen it yet? Looks like it's had decent reviews but is it as good as everyone expected it to be?

It's AMAZING. You gotta see it in theaters though, because it's more of an experience than an actual "film" in the traditional sense. It's gotta be a packed house with a very intense crowd. But everything about it is just awesome and kick-ass, and it's a perfect homage to old-school 'so-bad-they're-great' cinema.
Was there loads of whoop-whooping and cheering?
I don't get that. Like when Star Wars episode II came out, apparently in America, people were cheering n' such when Yoda fought Count Dooku. That sort of thing has never happened in the cinema I go to.

I'm so disappointed it's already flopped. I adored it. I've been reading reviews and find it hilarious that so many critics that think they like the grindhouse genres are b***hing about Tarentino's part. It's actually a much stronger and truthful representation of the film type than Planet Terror, which is really just a spoof of the 1980s late Italian toxic zombie boom. Death Proof is a modern Russ Myers flick, and all these knowledgable movie snobs (who I'm sure claim to love Myers' work) are missing the point completely.
It's awesome. Jersey Jedi said it the best - you have to see it in theatres!

It's like those s**tty 'Piracy is a Crime' ads with Apocalypto (seriously, that came out months ago - get a new ad you cheapskates). There's a bit at the end where the whole audience gasp and cheer because, apparently, 'it's the experience that counts' (nothing like a load of chatting chavs to ad tot he experience). If anyone did that in my cinema I'd kick their arse.

Would you whop them on the head with your Light Saber? Admit it, you're the Star Wars Kid aren't you....

Oh and that stupid f**king "sucks lemons NYC power cut" Orange ad. Makes me wanna pull my eyeballs from their sockets every time I see it.

Yep, like you experience is just as likely to be ruined by someone getting up to go to the toilet as much in the cinema as it is if you bought a shady DVD. Not the best logic there, FACT.

Are you flirting with me again?
Are you flirting with me again?
You wish. Besides *you* were the one who was flirting with me.
i hate Tarantion style.....so i will not even bother to see it
They were both fun as hell to watch. I really wouldn't be able to chose one over the other, but Death Proof is the one that's been on my mind since.
The trailers were all pretty great, too. Spoiler Nick Frost and Nic Cage cameos really sold me.
I do think I'll be going again this weekend and help those numbers.

Was actually going to see this at an actual drive-in this past weekend, until it snowed Friday afternoon. :/
I'm really hoping it's still playing at one of the ones around here by the time warmer weather decides to appear again, but if not I'll venture out to the nearest theater to see it this weekend. Just seems like the kind of movie that should be viewed at a drive-in...

Oh gawd, not again...
I'll resist the urge to make jokes about your obsession with my 'saber'.
S**t, Gould, your wife is coming!! Everyone act natural!Talk about sports, quickly! Let's talk about sports!
Ahem, so, how about them...uh...
S**t, I don't know anything about sports!

Who's Tarnation?
This movie was amazing! And a great advantage about being in Canada, we saw the "Hobo with a Shotgun" trailer!
I think Jersey Jedi said it best also, go with a friend or two and laugh your ass off (my friend and I did just that, everyone was staring at us). Spoiler The "Missing Reel" "joke" only worked with Planet Terror though, in Death Proof it was lame.
Is the DVD going to be split up? I've heard rumours that they're releasing them seperately to make up for the disappointing opening weekend. Which is utter bulls**t. In a perfect world, they'd release an uber box set, with seperate films (with optional "full" versions via seamless branching), the original film (as it we've just seen) and Machete (DTV Film Rodriguez is making to release with Grindhouse).
Well, go check it out, this is the fun[ni]est movie I've seen in awhile. Definitely worth the price of admission.

The Mrs doesn't mind. She knew what she was letting herself in for well ahead of time

Going by that picture, I'd say she was thinking she had nothing to worry about.
Hey, at least it's double-ended.
Ew.
I could access a picture of him. I know where to find one.

Spoiler That did feel really forced. And they even show the lap dance scene in one of the trailers. Tarantino.

My picture was up on the site for ages.

Was it? Well never mind then. We've still got this one:

Spoiler It's not even like "Aww man, no lapdance!
" There was just no point to it. In Planet Terror it breaks down during the sex scene, fine, but then when it comes back, the building is on fire and all Hell has broken loose. Whereas in Death Proof, it did nothing like that, it just skipped the dance and went back to the girls talking about nothing. Death Proof would've ruined the movie for me if it hadn't come back with a kickass second and third act.

Funny thing is I don't even remember taking that pic cause I was still under the effects of the drugs. Still got no feeling in part of my tongue after that operation...
I liked the movie its worth seeing! Just don't drink a huge coke
