I wander if we will get straight to video movies under the GRindhouse label?
Yes the more I watch old classic movies the more I realize how QT spent working in the video store! Kiss Me Deadly! Pulp Fiction reminds me too much of this classic film especially the briefcase!!!
Yeah, I liked both, but Death Proof was the better film. And I tend to dislike Tarantino's stuff a lot (except Reservoir Dogs, that's just a great movie.)
Death Proof is fun.  Planet Terror is slow
Kozinski, I think you are absolutely correct. Check the new issue of Empire for the an article on the whole Grindhouse subject!
I will just wait for them both on dvd.
I heard a rumour that the internation releases would be:

Death Proof (extended cut)
and
Planet Terror (as Grindhouse but with all fake trailers)

I think I might have read it in a interview with Weinstein
Rumoured to be release on 25 Sept. No idea if it's the extended cuts or not. Death Proof is being release here in Singapore on 21 Jun which is now retitled as Grindhouse:Death Proof and Grindhouse: Planet Terror follows a month later. I guess we won't be seeing all those fake trailers by Eli Roth, Rob Zombie and Edgar Wright here in Singapore
September last I heard.
Release Date
Any rumors of the dvd release date?
They are showing an extended cut of QT's section Death Proof tonight at Cannes. Harvey Weinstein says that this extended cut and Planet Terror will be screened seperatley in cinemas in the UK and Europe. Still 21 September release date. Not happy!
Bah! Damn your bad news Cheddar!!!
They've already said that they aren't.
Someone did remind me that this will probably be out on R1 before UK gets it in cinema's.

Here's hoping they transfer the "Grindhouse" feel to DVD well.
Damn I wanted to see it as one movie! C**p! The orange adds were brilliant! My movie watching is always diminished by the same rubbish ads!The orange ones made up for it in a way! If you go to the cinema more than once a week or a few times per month the ads are torture to sit through!
Boooooooo - Was looking forward to the Grindhouse experience Sad
plus it wont have the faux trailers either although i have already seen em it wud be good to watch on the big screen and see the audiences reaction
adam roddis wrote: It's not fair, grindhouse is gettin split in the UK, they could have at least tried it as a double feature

Yeah, I'd pin my hopes on it getting decent treatment on DVD if I wasn't already waiting on the Kill Bill Whole Bloody Affair

Looks like we'll just have to buy two tickets Sad

So this is a UK exclusive series of ADs?
Nup - gotta be Swayze's "The Silent Assasain" for me! Magic
"LLLORRRD OF THE RINGTONES! "Colon, The Return of the Phonecall"

Bloody brilliant.
My favourite one was the Revenge of the Sith ad.
Nic Mall wrote: Oh and that stupid f**king "sucks lemons NYC power cut" Orange ad.  Makes me wanna pull my eyeballs from their sockets every time I see it.

Word - as the kiddies say. Does my head in - thankfully, last few times I've been it's been the good old Orange Movie Makers ads - Michael Madsen at oresent Happy
Funnily enough it reminded me of that as well. Only works with Trey Parker's accent though. He can make the words 'that's right' funny Happy
Heh don't know why but that made me think of Mr Garrison's "I'm sorry children, but I just don't trust something that bleeds for five days and doesn't die" line. Classic
Oh you act like you've never bled profusely from the mouth. I do it every Tuesday. Girls are such sissies.
Ew ew ew
Not on a daily basis, no. It was immediately after I had four wisdom teeth extracted and was still a bit 'worse for the wear' from the drugs.
ew that can't be your gob..
I liked the movie its worth seeing! Just don't drink a huge coke
Funny thing is I don't even remember taking that pic cause I was still under the effects of the drugs. Still got no feeling in part of my tongue after that operation...

Spoiler That did feel really forced. And they even show the lap dance scene in one of the trailers. Tarantino. Annoyed

Spoiler It's not even like "Aww man, no lapdance! Sad" There was just no point to it. In Planet Terror it breaks down during the sex scene, fine, but then when it comes back, the building is on fire and all Hell has broken loose. Whereas in Death Proof, it did nothing like that, it just skipped the dance and went back to the girls talking about nothing. Death Proof would've ruined the movie for me if it hadn't come back with a kickass second and third act.
Was it? Well never mind then. We've still got this one:

My picture was up on the site for ages.

Ew.
Hey, at least it's double-ended.
Going by that picture, I'd say she was thinking she had nothing to worry about. Tongue

Ahem, so, how about them...uh...

S**t, I don't know anything about sports!

The Mrs doesn't mind. She knew what she was letting herself in for well ahead of time Happy
Who's Tarnation?

This movie was amazing! And a great advantage about being in Canada, we saw the "Hobo with a Shotgun" trailer!

I think Jersey Jedi said it best also, go with a friend or two and laugh your ass off (my friend and I did just that, everyone was staring at us). Spoiler The "Missing Reel" "joke" only worked with Planet Terror though, in Death Proof it was lame.

Is the DVD going to be split up? I've heard rumours that they're releasing them seperately to make up for the disappointing opening weekend. Which is utter bulls**t. In a perfect world, they'd release an uber box set, with seperate films (with optional "full" versions via seamless branching), the original film (as it we've just seen) and Machete (DTV Film Rodriguez is making to release with Grindhouse).

Well, go check it out, this is the fun[ni]est movie I've seen in awhile. Definitely worth the price of admission.

I'll resist the urge to make jokes about your obsession with my 'saber'.
Oh gawd, not again...Rolling Eyes

Did you just bite? Wink
Was actually going to see this at an actual drive-in this past weekend, until it snowed Friday afternoon. :/

I'm really hoping it's still playing at one of the ones around here by the time warmer weather decides to appear again, but if not I'll venture out to the nearest theater to see it this weekend. Just seems like the kind of movie that should be viewed at a drive-in...
They were both fun as hell to watch. I really wouldn't be able to chose one over the other, but Death Proof is the one that's been on my mind since.
The trailers were all pretty great, too. Spoiler Nick Frost and Nic Cage cameos really sold me.
I do think I'll be going again this weekend and help those numbers. Sad
i hate Tarantion style.....so i will not even bother to see it Happy
You wish. Besides *you* were the one who was flirting with me.

Are you flirting with me again?
Chris Gould wrote: It's like those s**tty 'Piracy is a Crime' ads with Apocalypto (seriously, that came out months ago - get a new ad you cheapskates). If anyone did that in my cinema I'd kick their arse.

Yep, like you experience is just as likely to be ruined by someone getting up to go to the toilet as much in the cinema as it is if you bought a shady DVD.  Not the best logic there, FACT.

Oh and that stupid f**king "sucks lemons NYC power cut" Orange ad.  Makes me wanna pull my eyeballs from their sockets every time I see it.
Nic Mall wrote: Was there loads of whoop-whooping and cheering?
I don't get that. Like when Star Wars episode II came out, apparently in America, people were cheering n' such when Yoda fought Count Dooku. That sort of thing has never happened in the cinema I go to. Sad

It's awesome. Jersey Jedi said it the best - you have to see it in theatres!
I'm so disappointed it's already flopped. I adored it. I've been reading reviews and find it hilarious that so many critics that think they like the grindhouse genres are b***hing about Tarentino's part. It's actually a much stronger and truthful representation of the film type than Planet Terror, which is really just a spoof of the 1980s late Italian toxic zombie boom. Death Proof is a modern Russ Myers flick, and all these knowledgable movie snobs (who I'm sure claim to love Myers' work) are missing the point completely.
Was there loads of whoop-whooping and cheering?

It's AMAZING. You gotta see it in theaters though, because it's more of an experience than an actual "film" in the traditional sense. It's gotta be a packed house with a very intense crowd. But everything about it is just awesome and kick-ass, and it's a perfect homage to old-school 'so-bad-they're-great' cinema.
Grindhouse
Have any of you guys in the US seen it yet?  Looks like it's had decent reviews but is it as good as everyone expected it to be?
