Halloween
Does anyone know if the original Halloween will ever be released on DVD as a Criterion Collection Edition?

Anchor Bay currently holds the rights to Halloween, and have made available most of the extras that were on the Criterion laserdisc, like the commentary track with Carpenter and Curtis. That being said, I see no reason for Criterion to release the film, Anchor Bay has done an especially good job with the film and I doubt anyone else could do better.
I hope one day we will get a new comentary track for "Halloween".

So the Halloween 25th Anniversary edition has material from the Criterion Collection?

The AB 25th Anniversary disc has the Criterion commentary, but aside from that I couldn't say off the top of my head what other extras were carried over from the LD set as I don't own it any longer. The 25th Ann. disc is definitely worth picking up.

Why? I don't think Carpenter or Curtis are going to have anything different to say about the picture or have had some great epiphany to share about it since they recorded the current one, and besides that Debra Hill, the third contributor on the track, has since passed.

Well the comentary from Jamie Lee Curtis was recorded seperate. I think John and Debra's were recorded seperate too. I want a full comentary by John Carpenter. If they don't (John and Jamie) want to do another then I want one from Dean Cundley and Tommy Lee Wallace. I enjoyed the original Comentary but I want to hear things that were missed. ( Why didn't they film a knife droping out from Micheal Myers when he kid bumps into him). I also like to here more about John Carpenter and how he would shoot the movie today. PJ Soles could also do a comentary. Also I wouldn't rule out a 30th Anniversary DVD. I am sure there will be one.
Another HAlloween DVD release is coming in August. I am willing to bet yet another DVD will be released Next year. That will be a 30th anniversary dvd and include alternate footage that was recently found!
