That's a good way of phrasing it. I wanted to like it as well but apart from some good use of the surrounds I thought the film was average. Annoying characters all getting what was coming to them. I wasn't rooting for anyone. The making of features didn't help. The cast and crew all seemed to be very pleased with themselves thinking they were making Aliens or something. Ooo look at our sets. Look at how we're re-using these plaster rocks and filming the same pieces of set with different lighting. Aren't we clever? Well, perhaps you are but shut up crowing about it and come up with something original will you?

Looks like Doomsday could be more of the same. More 'aren't we clever' ripping of of countless other, better films. Sorry Mr Marshall, but if you carry on down this road you'll end up being the British Paul WS.

Sorry for the confusion on this. I thought you were the first poster on this. I see now that you were the last. Still learning the ropes.
Did you even read my post?
For Nic:
Hot off the press:

No one who's seen THE DESCENT or Marshall's debut, DOG SOLDIERS, will be surprised by the high-level of gore on display: Severed heads and hands fly in all directions, bodies gets smeared across highways during high-speed chase sequences and one unlucky b*****d gets barbequed. The film's bizarre sense of humor – which doesn't always hit the mark – is something new. Still, Marshall delivers what he promises and Mitri makes for a cool, kick-arse heroine in the Ellen Ripley mold. It's hard to call such a movie derivative when there's such obvious respect and affection for its sources, and it makes recommendations easy: If you liked any of the aforementioned movies, there's a good chance you'll like this. --Ken Fox

The trailer for Doomsday looks good.  Reminds me a bid of Escape from New York and The Warriors.

You might have, I only looked once when you had it linked. Just remember a lot about Transformers and Superman Wink

How do you kill that which has no life? Is your MySpace page a lie as well then?
I could be. Just cos I have a picture of "me" on my sig doesn't mean that actually is me...Would you like to see the real me?

Because if I didn't know better I'd swear you were a bloke. Not that it's a bad thing; quite good actually.
Hi:

I didn't see "Doomsday," but loved "The Descent" mostly because caves creep me out. Anyway, found someone who did see it:

I got a chance to see Doomsday last week at a special screening. It is AWESOME! The action is really good. There is a sick car chase at the end and this really cool gladiator battle with Rhona Mitra and a 7 foot dude with a mace. I thought Rhona Mitra was going to suck, but she is actually good! The score was done by Tyler Bates (300) and it was also really rocking. The supporting cast was well fit too. Malcom Mcdowell shows up in the last half of the movie which was a cool surprise. Form the trailer I thought it was going to be like 28 Weeks later, but it that is just the set-up. It definitely borrows a lot from Mad Max, but it works. Kind of like Mad Max for my generation (i'm 24.) All and all, really good. Cult classic in the making..

why?
Nic, you are a very strange girl.
