Has this happened to anyone?
Hello
This was really weird, I recently went to a DVD store to buy "Close encounters of the third kind", it came sealed and it was never opened, I payed for it, and then when I opened it the discs weren´t there!
Fortunately I went back and the guy from the store ordered another one from the distributor and gave me another movie for the inconvenience.
I was just wondering if buying a movie without the discs happened to anyone of you?

It's happened to me a few times. The first time I didn't think the store would believe me, but apparently it happens more often than it should.

Im glad to hear that the customer service was top notch. Its never happened to me before but I had one time when i got Monty Python and the Holy Grail and the part in the middle that holds the disk in place had broke. The disk was so scratched that the movie was unwatchable. Fortunatly the store took it back no questions asked.

Hmmmm...couldn't ya tell when you picked it up? Maybe I've handeled too many DVD's, but I can tell when there is a disc in the case vs when there's not. Usually I can tell how many discs are in it too. Shocked

I've had many times where you can feel the disc fell out of the middle that holds the disc when I receive it in the letterbox in a yellow package. It was being delivered by mail from dvdpacific.com or dvdboxoffice.com

It must have happened during flight, where it keeps shaking.

Luckily, no scratches. Only once I bought it instore and it had a few scratches but my friend (who owns the store) happily exchanged for another one.

That happened to me once. I went to the store and picked up the Jackie Brown DVD. Now, like Jonny mentioned, I'm pretty good as noticing if there is a disc missing or not but since this one came in a digipak, it was hard to tell. When I got home and opened it up, it was missing the disc with the feature film, only the special features disc was included. I quickly went back to the store and they happily replaced it for me. Ever since this happened I always open everything as soon as I get home, just in case this happens again. I have friends that buy DVDs or Games and just leaved them sealed for months assuming that everything is Ok.

When I bought the Osbournes: Season 1, it was missing a disc. Then, I brought it back and got 8 Mile and never go the Osbournes again.

This happened to me with the French Connection set.  It had disc 2 where disc 1 was supposed to be and no disc at all where disc 2 was supposed to be.  It took some convincing to get Fox to send me a replacement set since two years had passed from when I bought it to when I opened it.
