I doubt they would do Halloween since they are still making sequels to Halloween.

They're going back to what worked yes, but they need to leave those movies alone.  Friday the 13th doesn't need a prequel.  We know Jason was disfigured and that he drowned due to counselor negligence.  Halloween is a classic that just should not be touched.  It did the job Carpenter set out to do...because to this day I STILL cannot watch that movie when I'm alone, and I only watch it in the daytime.  LOL

Try breathing some new life (remake)into the lame movies like April Fool's Day, My Bloody Valentine, Funhouse, or Humongous.

As I said earlier in the thread, according to a good source at bloody-disgusting.com, the Friday the 13th movie is a remake.  They're even going to cast Pamela Voorhees.  Look for that in October.

Yeah...the word 'reliable' isn't something I would use to describe IMDB when it comes to news as most of what is entered is highly speculative and just plain wrong in many cases. I'd take that info with a huge grain of salt...

Actually, the original Friday the 13th took place 30-some years after Jason drowned, so if this is the real premise, then yes, it would be considered a prequel.

I wouldn't put much stock in what I say either.  I know a few things here and there about the new Halloween movie, but the Friday the 13th stuff is totally out of my realm.  I've been to quite a few websites and would say that 9 times out of 10, they've been right.  They've been right when they said that TCM was going to be remade with Bay as the producer and right on the big rumors for Freddy vs. Jason.  I'd say this is quite good.

No, there is no kidding in that.  There's a lot of news that I wish I could share, but to protect my source, I can't do it.  There's no definite story in the wake of Moustapha Akkad's death, but there is a major player trying to acquire rights to the remake without doing a part 9.

Most forget that horror movies are the cheapest to make and generally have a film schedule of a month or a little more than that.  A script can be pounded out quickly if need be.  I'm sure Platinum Dunes has an idea.

Right now, there isn't a script, but at one time there was.  It was actually going to be good.  I know they're still shooting for next year, but that could change at any time.  It may never come out.  Who knows at this point?  There's a good legal thing going on that could help Halloween fans out to see a movie before the end of next year.

How is that a remake? The original had Jason's mum killing everyone and Jason didin't get his hockey mask til part 3. And is it true that that original was made for less than a million dollars?

Cunningham used to make kids stuff and wanted to make some money, so he made a splatter picture.  So, the original was made very cheap and did a ton of business.  And it's a remake because it's restarting the series.
