Well my favorite DVD is "Superman II" The Restored InterNational Cut
My collection is only about 250 DVDs and sets.  My treasures include the LORT extended trilogy box, the Alien Quadrilogy, and The Director's Label Series 1-7.

Yeah, I know. I stumbled across the image the other night, and couldn't help but change my sig.
Bob, we need to do something about your signature image. When I have a look at the site while at work, I just can't stay focused... tough to concentrate once I've caught a glimpse of smokin' hot Mary Jane.

I think you're right, since I already own all the DVD's I could want, I usually look at a cover and if it looks interesting, instead of renting I'm like. Ehh, why not.

I'm usually ALLL over the Wal*Mart bargin bins. Come on! $5.50!! Who could resist??! Most are low budget movies, give 'em a try, they're not always bad.
If you really are buying that many I'd say it's a compulsion, not a habit.
Adrian wrote: I think Matt is the only one with a collection like mine, but I would say that I have 1500+ titles

Actually, I'll add myself to that list with more than 1,000. And a Amazon wish list shopping spree next week will bump me up +200. Like I said, a horrible habit.....
I've got somewhere around 600 DVDs.  If I had to go by my prized DVDs, I really wouldn't know where to start.  I guess I'd start off with my Halloween DVDs which would total about 45 with the rarest being the Halloween 2 disc limited edition with the lenticular cover.  The unofficial rare one would be the 2 disc Halloween 6 P-Cut I worked on.
I have 150 dvds and I treasure:

Big Fish Korean Limited Edition - Senitype, Story Book, Embossed Packaging, Picture Magnet

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Limited Edition - Chitty Bang Car Model, Soundtrack, Promo to Show, Story Book

Walk the Line 2 Disc Collector's Edition OOP - Postcards, Cardboard Packaging
Mine has been updated to 445. Next year should be interesting. Hopefully those TV shows on DVD I like will drop in price! Especially those Star Treks!!
I have around 165 DVD's,
and my top 5 list of treasures:
1. Casablanca SE
2. Dr. Strangelove 40th Anniversary
3. Citizen Kane
4. Rushmore: The Criterion Collection
5. Raging Bull: 2 Disc Collector's edition
First time poster...I have around 300 dvds.  I guess my most prived are probably LOTR Extended Versions and the Die Hard: Five Star Collection trilogy
Oh, by the way Johnny, I am a sick sick man when it comes to my dvds. And the sad thing is I'm proud of it.
Jonny "Me You" wrote: Bob "the film man" wrote: and all of the Star Trek sets (because they cost so much)

Your a sick sick man. Either that, or a millionaire. I think here it would cost something like $192 per season, plus tax. That's something like $6000 for all the shows.

They ought to be $40 per season Very Happy

I didn't spend that much on them. I bought most them used at Hastings, each costing somewhere between $50-$60. I only bought the last two seasons of DS9 new, and that was at Sam's Club costing about $80 each.
Gabe Powers wrote: You know you have too many DVDs when you haven't watched ones you got last Christmas...

Errrr

I have Star Trek TNG complete series from two christmas' back and I haven't watched yet, because I want to get the TOS and DS9 before I start watching them.

I haven't updated my DVD Profiler in ages so that's due for a complete update after christmas.
I happen to be a trekkie too, but don't need to own all the trek dvd's. I only like one franchise and that's it. Star Trek: Voyager. Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway) just happens to share the same birthday as me. Cool, huh? Otherwise I do enjoy the 90's Enterprise and Deep Space Nine.

I have almost 900. My most treasured are Star Wars (the prequels, and the original trilogy box set) The Lord of the Rings Extended Editions, and all of the Star Trek sets (because they cost so much)
I have about 500+ DVDS...most of them are Region 3 Imported and Region 1, some Region 2 as well...fair guess that I have a free region dvd player.

My most precious dvds collection are...

The Godfather: DVD Collection (4-Disc Digipak)
Schindler's List: Gift Set Limited Edition (Region 1)
Friends: The Complete Season 1-10 Box Set (Region 1)
2046: Limited Edition (Korea)
Band of Brothers: Collectible Tin Case (Digipak)
Woody Allen: Collection (6-Disc Digipak Region 2 UK)
Shawshank Redemption: 2-Disc Deluxe Edition + Book

etc...
Gabe Powers wrote: You know you have too many DVDs when you haven't watched ones you got last Christmas...

Is this really a problem?!?  Shocked

I still have DVDs from 1999 that I haven't opened!
You know you have too many DVDs when you haven't watched ones you got last Christmas...
On a few of the titles it isn't really noticeable as they are pretty much the same, but for some reason Universal used new transfers on the re-issues that had a somewhat lower bit-rate, that and there are a few glitches here and there with the sound; I bought the Dracula Legacy Collection to get House of Dracula and the Creature Legacy Collection to get the Creature sequels.

Phantom of the Opera was actually re-released earlier this year around the time that the 2004 movie was released on DVD.

I open everything as soon as I get it home...but if you were to ask me if I have actually watched everything I own all the way through, I'd have to answer that I have no idea...there are probably a couple of dozen that I bought on impulse and have just never gotten around to.
Is it really that noticeable?  I still have the old box set as well!  I just sold off the solo titles that I had in addition.  It's hard to argue against getting $80 for Dracula or even more ridiculous $65 for the Mummy double features.

Edit:  Why haven't they released Phantom of the Opera yet?  I think it remains the only one from the box set that is unreleased.

I'm glad that I am not the only with a ridiculous collection.  How many of yours remain still sealed?
Adrian wrote: I knew that the Universal Horrors were going to be re-released and I sold mine off at ridiculous prices!
Yet little did you know that the older discs actually have better transfers...Wink

I've been extrememly lackadaisical about updating my DVDProfiler since last winter...I really should update it for insurance purposes if nothing else.
I think Matt is the only one with a collection like mine.  It's hard for me to tell exactly how many titles I have because I haven't fixed DVD Profile to track box sets correctly, but I would say that I have 1500+ titles.

Unlike Matt, I knew that the Universal Horrors were going to be re-released and I sold mine off at ridiculous prices!
This thread became redundant after Mr. Joseph got his hands on it Wink
hmmm....haven't counted in a while...around 370.

Favourites include Akira limited edition boxed tin, Fifth Element Superbit, Silence of the Lambs Criterion.
You got the bug bad Aaron. You have some good taste though.
Over 700

Walt Disney Treasures
Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection
Halloween Limited Edition (with lenticular cover)
Manhunter Limited Edition
King Kong Collection (Best Buy exclusive set includes collector's tin)
Batman Begins Deluxe Edition (Best Buy exclusive includes lenticular cover)

Everything else will eventually be re-released in superior versions. The ones listed would be hard acts to follow...even in HD

Thank you guys for your comments and for showing your collection. Helps me to decide which other movies I'd like to have in my cabinet that I'd forgot about.

Now you can check out my collection. It may be a bit too commercial, but I like them!

I have close to 200 DVDs and my most treasured ones are my Friday the 13th Boxset, E.T., Hard Boiled and Battle Royale.

I have more than I really should and my most treasured ones are any that are out-of-print and/or fairly rare, such as a few of the Criterion discs that I have (John Woo's Hard Boiled for instance) and some of the discs released in the early years of the format that are nowhere to be found these days, unless, like Flash Gordon (1980) (which should be coming out in an S.E. later this year) they get a re-release in some fashion. My most treasured, until last summer when they were re-issued, were the Universal Monster DVDs that were released several years ago including all of the double feature discs.
I have about 400 DVD's. Hmmmm, I suppose I have a few that are my most treasured. The Walt Disney Treasures and other out of print stuff ranks up there. Then of course there are all the promo DVD's and not for sale stuff that the public cant generally buy that I have.
I have approx. 50 movies (including seasons of shows). My most prized are the Star Wars Trilogy, The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Trilogy, and  Ultimate Matirx collection, in that order.

i have about 325, my most treasured are Star Wars, Akira (tin), and the Godfather

I have about 100 DVD's (region 1).  My treasures is definitely The Lord of the Rings (Special Widescreen Extended Edition) Trilogy.
I have over 400 all regions. My treasures are "24" S1,2, and 3, Will and Grace 1-3, and most of all FRIENDS 1-10.
How many DVD's do you have? and which is your treasured DVD?
Currently, I have just over 300 DVD's, all Region 1, because I like them better than Region 4. My most guarded dvd is the 'Speed Collection' 1&2.
