I don't have it, but I seem to remember reading about the situation you describe.
HUGO UKBD ratio query.
Does anyone have the UKBD of this?

The UKBD seems to only have one disc containing both the 2D & 3D versions. I don't have a 3D TV (I'm not too fussed about that) so the 2D is the one I've been looking at. My query is, the 2D version that plays on my Toshiba has slight borders top, bottom left and right. The TV itself has an 'Exact Scan' function so it displays the BD resolution as fully as possible but I've never had a BD display borders on all sides before. The extra features (with exact scan) fill the whole screen (as normal) but the feature does not. It's normal with 1.85 ratio BD's to expect slight top & bottom borders but left & right as well, is a mystery. Has anyone else found this to be the case on their TV's?

I should add that all other BD's on my set up, whether 1.85 or 1.78, do not show left & right borders so this isn't a case of a setting that has changed.

I'm wondering if it's something to do with the disc having only the 3D version encoded onto it and only playing 'one eye', so to speak, for 2D TV's.

This 'only having the 3D version on the disc' is purely speculation on my part but I find it hard to believe, given the nature of the film and the praise heaped on the cinematography, that they would try to cram two separate versions onto one disc.
