Ok, it was a solid two or three seconds. I should probably get a second opinion before I go accusing them of screwing it up, but thamk you very very much!
Sorry, but i forgot about having posted here. I will listen to it as soon as i can.

EDIT: Unless you're talking about fractions of a second, i couldn't really pick up on any delays between rear and front speakers. I have the standard R3 release by Panasia and i checked both with the DD and DTS track. I especially listened to the science lab sequence. No delay there. That's weird!
Can I ask you a question about the audio? I'm reviewing the US release and there are a few instances of the sound effects appearing in the rear channel a good few seconds before they hit the front speakers. The best example I can think of is the middle of the film, when the girl is taking poloroid pictures in the science lab with all the animals in jars. She backs up and there is a crash and scream in the rear channels. A few seconds later the actress screams and knocks over a picture, and the sound is in the front channel. There's a few more examples, and because they seem to happen during scares I'm 99% sure that it's like this on purpose, but I want to be sure.

Could you do me a massive favour and see if this happens on your DVD as well?
Yeah, i do. I've fallen asleep to it twice though.
