Lord of the Rings Trilogy 2-Disc Limited Edition
As I understand these will have the Extended Editions and the Theatrical Versions in this new set. But my question is what am I losing by selling my 4-Disc editions and buying these?

All of the extras on the second two discs and most of the audio tracks, including the commentaries and DTS. Buying these ones and selling your EE sets would be a foolish thing to do, and if you're buying these new ones just to have the theatrical cuts you can find those two-disc sets fairly cheap. If you want the new documentary you'll have to buy these, but get rid of the ones you already have? No way.

No doubt the quality factor - would appear whole film is on 1 disc.
I dare say that the DTS track may be removed too.

I'd say the biggest thing you lose would have to be quality. The original extended editions were spread over two discs each. This could be especially troublesome on Return of the King that clocks in at over 4 hours.
Quite simply don't do it - and if you want to see the new extras rent it or find a friend that has foolishly bought te new editions...
Wow, shiiiiit I'm keeping mine. Thanks all!
as for the quality..there will be no DTS or Commentatury track..so easy fit on 1 Disk.
Is this a new release since the awesome extended versions with 6.1 surround? That can't be topped imo.
Man, this just goes to show how bad they are hoaring us. Greedy b*****ds.

Actually the first disc of each set will be of the DVD-18 variety, double-sided and dual-layer on each side.

I myself find this release to be pointless, the should instead be releasing No Holds barred.
WTF does that have to do with LOTR? Although Joan Severance is always a welcome sight.

Don't you mean, "Joan Severance is always a welcome sight, Brother!" or "Whatcha gonna do when Joan Severance runs wild on you?!?!"
