Lord of the Rings - Which version???
I am still unsure of which version of the trilogy to buy the Extended Editions or the Limited Editions. They both have there pros and cons. I like the idea of having the EE on 1 disc even if it is less quality and the sound of the 300 min documentary but I don't think it has the extras that the EE has. Anybody else in the same position?

The Limited Editions don't have less quality, because disc one is dual sided. Part one from both versions is on side a and part two on side b. And no, the Limited Editions don't have the extras the Extended Editions have.

Get the extended editions. They looks nicer on the shelf. Like a set of books.

I concur. The Extended Editions are the way to go.

Peter Jackson has told a popular fansite that New Line is planning to make "The Hobbit" without the involvement of the Oscar-winning team behind the "Lord of the Rings" movies.

OK before I buy the Extended Edition 12 Disc Boxset, there isn't going to be a new release anytime soon is there?

Doubt it, only reason for a new release would be if they do a high definition version, but they'd be daft to do it whilst the formats are in their infancy and user base is so small. Other reason would be the new film but that's probably years away.

Probably, but it won't even come close to matching the quality of the EEs. I would just buy those, great packaging, nice books, only complaint: Discs are a bit of a bother to get out without fear of snapping them in two.

I think they would release an HD version, why?
$40/movie + millions of fans who collect EVERYTHING LOTR = Big chunk o'dough.

Wake up, we're all robots man, we're all programmed to consume and consume, spend and spend... It's the corporations with their subliminal messages! Fight the power! Wear your tin foil hats people!
