MIAMI VICE DISGRACEFUL RELEASE....
Universal should be ashamed - The Region 1/2/4 releases of what was one of the seminal televsion shows of the 1980s has what can only be described as, very, very poor picture quality. The quality is on par with VHS copies and what has been transmitted via Freeview channels such as Men and Motors. It's okay bragging that the sound has been remixed but we want picture quality and extras to match. The Region 1 packaging also caused some or all of the discs contained within to crack on removal from their holders. What is Universal thinking of when transferring these very popular shows on to DVD. I have stopped buying their TV DVD sets until I hope they re-release them as HD formats!

You must not have very good fingers because I was able to take them out just fine.
although, I think all sets with 2 Disc's or more should always be packaged in a Digipak or Slipcase because they're less likely to get damaged than if they were in an Amaray/Keep case,
since when a 2 Disc set is packaged in an amaray case it's more likely to get damaged on the back of the disc(which is the most important part, btw)when putting it back in the case.

I'd love to pick this up...but there's just so much coming out in these weeks leading up to Christmas and just after and not enough extra cash laying around with the majority of my Christmas spending yet to do.

You can't guarantee that the HD release would be any better?

If they digitally remaster them for the HD release then yeah it should be, but as it was an 80s television release that's only got a few interests from people who are hardcore fans, you're not really going to get a superior version for the HD release.

In a related topic, the teaser trailer for the Michael Mann Miami Vice movie just hit the net. It looks pretty sick.

I saw the teaser too. It looks like a Collateral sequel.

Miami Vice Region 1 Packaging......
My fingers are fine thanks - it was the c**p placement of discs that resulted in them being fixed on the spools so tightly that they cracked when they were removed. I even contacted Universal/RowdysDVD (Importer) in the USA, but they replied by saying they were not responsible for Region 1 products purchased outside the States. RowdysDVD have a returns policy that does not even give you fair chance to check the discs properly. By the time you receive their DVDs you have appx 2/3 days to watch them. I would argue that very few people watch 23 episodes of a television series within the first 2-3 days of receipt! So pathetic after sales service by both parties involved!
