Was a great movie, I agree that it could have been made better but the overall look of the movie was badass!

Another fan of The Rock.  Fun film.

I still love it though. Woo!
and those savage Nokia phones....

Hey, do we get a cut for the product placement here? Wink
And I can't resist saying that The Rock is an awesome movie. A fluke in a long list of mediocrity.
That was the problem though. They were hardly in it, at least as far as fighting each other. Only Prime and Megatron really went at it, and a lot of that was off-screen.

I really liked the movie.  I'm glad it didn't lay on the schmaltz too thick like Armageddon and Pearl Harbor.

What about the Schmaltz when Bumblebee gets taken by the government? I read a review that likened the music in this scene as coming on like Schindlers List! it was ridiculous!

I loved the film and couldnt give a left one about the story or characters, I just wanted to see big robots kick each others heads in.
It's funny - I can take the schmaltz in Armageddon - perhaps it's because its between two men.

Pearl Harbour is an awful movie though - about and hour and half too long.

You guys noticed all the cars where General Motors brand.  I saw more GM logo than the actually Transformers logo.
S**t definetly blows up! :0D

As long as a film complies with my 'S**t Blows Up' criteria - I'm happy.
Are we forgetting that this is Michael Bay...? Of course its not going to be character heavy.

I wasn't a huge fan of Transformers as a child, I only remember watching the cartoon - no comics for me! But I think these things that are close to us as a child will always be dissapointing unless it's done EXTREMELY well.

I thought the film was alright - nowhere near what it's hyped up to be, but I wouldn't say it was a bad movie. Leave the brain with the Saxo in the car park, pass the popcorn and let it gloss over you.
Was a bit weird not using the whole "battle to strip earth for energon". But hey the hair on the back of my neck was standing up through out the whole film.
Can't wait to see it again :D
Funnily enough, I dont think character development features very highly on Mr Bays agenda.

The Bay school of thought :- when in doubt...BLOW it to s**t!!!
Didn't say the storyline was rich, I said the source material was. They might have come from a toy line, but the comics were actually pretty adult, or at least the UK ones were. Clearly no one has 'raped' anything (tongue firmly in cheek and all), but it is a pretty average film that suffers from too much slo-mo and not enough characterisation.
In all honesty, I wouldn't consider the source material any better than that of the original Power Rangers that you despise so much. I enjoy/enjoyed both nearly equally, so I'm not trying to belittle both at all. But we are talking about a series that came about from a Toy line, so saying the story-line was "rich" just seems like a stretch to me.
I read the comics loads as a kid and there was so much more they could have done with it. We had a different continuity over here as Marvel UK did separate stories from Marvel US, and a lot of them kicked arse. Even the original arrival from Cybertron/fuel shortage storyline would have made more sense than what we got. Guess I shouldn't be surprised though...
I just don't think the source material was very rich, Chris, but I agree on the quality of the film.

I agree.  It was no where as bad as I was expecting, and I walked away liking it.  I still don't care for changes for changes sake, like the looks of them so drastic, but overall, I look forward to part 2.
Well...I loved every second of it. Going again next week.
Either that or Chris has just got around to opening the Michael Bay Bumper Movie Blow Out Box Set he got last XmasHappy
What are you talking about? Transformers? Haven't seen it yet.

Move over Lucas, there's a new guy in town! Seriously, what an astounding display of averageness from such rich source material.
