Also upcoming from the SPHE catalog are Hostel, Jerry Maguire and A Few Good Men.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment announced the studio’s upcoming slate of titles on the Blu-ray Disc format. Headlining the announcement is one of the format's first-ever TV DVD releases as the darkly comic Weeds will be offered in high definition. Also announced are the Marvel Animated Series titles Ultimate Avengers and Ultimate Avengers 2 alongside some of the studio’s most popular catalog titles including Dirty Dancing and Basic Instinct.

Other upcoming Blu-ray titles from Lionsgate include:

Crank (January 9)
Employee of the Month (January 16)
Saw II and III (January 23)
American Psycho (February 6)
Rambo First Blood February 6)
Reservoir Dogs (February 6)
Young Guns (February 6)
Ultimate Avengers and Ultimate Avengers 2
Weeds (TV Series)
House of 1000 Corpses
National Lampoon’s Van Wilder
Waiting
The Dead Zone (TV Series)
Requiem for a Dream
PI
Cabin Fever
Monster’s Ball
Dune
Belly

Some of these titles should be interesting, but why would studios release some c**p movies like "Waiting" onto Blu Ray and HD? What a waste of good disc with movies not many people really like much.

Here are some more news from the digitalbits site. COOL!

Sony reported that it will release 90-100 titles in 2007, including The Holiday, Pursuit of Happiness, The Curse of the Golden Flower and Ghost Rider!

Warner was unfortunately short on specific dates, but indicated that such titles as Happy Feet, Blood Diamond, We Are Marshall, all of The Matrix films, all of the Harry Potter films, Oceans 11 and 12, Bullitt, The Getaway (1972) and Blade Runner will all be released on HD-DVD format in 2007.

More MGM, only some were listed before. Others are new additions...

MGM's Blu-ray Disc slate will include Flyboys and Hart's War (1/30), The Usual Suspects (2/13), Dances with Wolves, The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) and Hoosiers (3/13), The Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal (April), Platoon, The Graduate, Battle of Britain and A Bridge Too Far (May), Ronin, To Live & Die in L.A., A Fistful of Dollars, Out of Time, Walking Tall and Bull Durham (June). Rocky Balboa and other new release titles are also expected.

That's what they can't seem to grasp. They put out movies that
A)People won't buy
B)Cost too much for a slightly better picture

If they released movies people WANTED to see in HD/BR, then maybe they'd be selling. I never understood why comedies like that even merited an HD presentation anyways. I mean, honestly, "Dude, Where's My Car?"? What will benefit from an HD/BR release? I tell you now, the target audience won't have $40 to spend on it, when they can buy the DVD for as I've seen it in some places, for less than $10.
