I'd like to recommend "Monster" cables. I have two Sammy HD sets and they are both wired via Monster and the images are breathtaking!
I spent roughly $70 US on each set of cables so that fits nicely in your price bracket I should think!

I honestly would definatly fo with HDMI but i doubt my DVD player is compatible with such a contraption.
It won't, not unless it was bought in a home theater specialty store for a lot of money
My point being, on a tv that size a regular component connection will probably do fine. Although, if you want to get a blu-ray or HD-DVD player in the future, you MUST have HDMI. Otherwise you won't be able to watch the movies in HD. I don't know what that will mean for owners like you who don't have it.
If I didn't need to buy a new computer to replace this aging beast, it would prob be me getting the new home theater equipment.

I must agree with Adrian, Rob. I am actually an electronics technician and I can do these things blind folded. The main problem I have seen with cheap cabes mainly is the quality of the sheilding where it has been too thin and it has been subject to interference that shows up on the screen.
Another thing to look into is the quality of the source material and the player (for external video) or the set top box (unless it has one built in).

Although I'll prob get hosed by the others for this, since your TV is a mere 30 inches, get yourself some regular component cables and don't worry about the hugely expensive ones. You won't see a huge difference on a TV of that size.
Besides, DVI or HDMI is the best way to go now anyhow. Audio is a different story however.

And yeah I know 30 isnt that big, but for a widescreen the price was right.

Go to an electronics store and buy the cables and connectors yourself and make them - For around $30 you can have a cable that is worth $150 or more just by doing this....
I'd really only recommend this if you know what you are doing; otherwise, you could be quite displeased with the TV when it is really your homemade cables that are the problem.
I agree with someone further down the page. At 30", you may not be able to tell a significant difference between the components and S-video.
When I got my HD cable box, the cable company gave me a free 12 foot component cable. Are you planning on getting HD cable? If so, you may want to wait on buying cables and use the one they will give you and an S-video and see if there is a noticeable enough difference to warrant buying the expensive cables.
