So I just bought Slumdog Millionaire on DVD and discovered that there are no special features included, despite the cover stating that there is a commentary, deleted scenes, making of, etc. I checked around and found that others on the net are complaining about the same thing. I found this article that pretty much explains what might have gone wrong;
It states that FOX will no longer have special features for DVDs meant for rental purposes, thus forcing people to buy the DVDs instead of renting. The policy was to go into effect with Slumdog Millionaire but I think somebody messed up BIG TIME and issued the special features-less DVDs for the retail market DVDs as well. The studio better issue a fix for this or they've got a huge P.R. disaster on their hands! Such a shame this debacle had to befall such a great movie...
***********UPDATE**************** FOX has officially announced a replacement program for those who call 1-888-223-4369. The problem is that no one knows how long it will take for the corrected discs to arrive. This never would have happened if FOX didn't have two different versions for the rental and retail markets. It's so asinine to deprive people who pay money to watch your DVD releases of the bonus features just because they are renting. It takes more effort on their part to strip the DVDs and re-author a rental-only version. And if FOX is successful, other studios are bound to follow and pretty soon the rental market is going to suffer big time.
