Ironically, it's not a strike, it's a lock-out. CBC will just bring in outside media workers most likely if it's not resolved in time for the NHL season. Not that it would have had an effect anyways. It won't affect the NHL, just how you watch it on saturday nights.

Damn, I'm gonna miss Cherry.

I watch hockey all the time. It's my favorite sport (and Football). It won't really effect me with a strike or not. I still get to watch some AHL.

Looks like CBC is on strike. Wonder if that will effect the season at all.

Hmmm, other then the World Series, I don't know of any major North American sports league that uses the word world.
There's the Stanley Cup after the NHL Playoffs, there's the NBA Playoff's and Championship and the Superbowl.
Even the World Series is fairly accurate for what it is. The championship for the best baseball league in the world.

I know that hockey is very competitive internationally. There's at least 21 countries that are qualify to play the Olympics tournament.

It's not like football (soccer), where the nearly the ENTIRE world plays the game, now that constitutes the name world cup football.
But Baseball and American Football??? Is this some sort of psychological thing?

you mean, this year
2 more months.

From the looks of all the signings, next year is going to be a VERY different NHL...

Ice Hockey is almost non-existant down under...and I am a fight fan!

I'd make a joke about the Sens and the cup but, well, I'm a Leaf fan...

Just remember that the next time you see it being hoisted.
By the Senators, of course.
I definitely will remember that.
On our school trip to Toronto a year and a half, one of the places was the Hockey Hall of Fame, but it was the third time I visited. Had to settle for the replica cup.

Very true!
As a footnote for all you hockey fans, I was on a school trip to the Hockey Hall of Fame a few years ago and we were let in before the general public. One of the hilights was that the real stanley cup was there for the day and not one of the replicas. Anyhow, we got to hang out in the grande hall before the guards decided to show up, i guess because we were early.
Most people touched it.
I wanted to do something cool, like lift it but thought a)I didn't earn the right and b) the alarm would go off.
So instead -
I gave it a big, wet juicy lick all along the side. lol
When the guard showed up as the hall opened he yelled at us...hehehe

BTW, it tasted like metal sheet tin and lots of wax...

Well, all I can say is that you guys must be happy. Back in April, the Leafs finished one of their first undefeated seasons ever.

^Couldn't have said it better myself.

I don't think that needs to be dignified with a proper response. Besides, we're so sick of beating the Sens all the time it's not worth arguing over

There are changes of icing.
What changes?
I'm just amaze of all the players that's been switching teams since the financial issue has been change. ALSO! I don't think they'll be more goals, if not less because of the changes of the rules of the game.
SENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like I'm alone. I've always loved the Senators and always went to season and playoff games. 2003 was almost our year! At least we have Hasek now. Plus, we had a pretty good rank in the drafts.
Nice to see Crosby finally go to the Penguins, a team in desparate need of any help they can get.

GO LEAFS GO!
I mean it.....they need to pick up the slack and start signing some players. Word is they're close to inking Jason Allison.

The New Jersey Devils all the way, baby!
The lockout is over. The season will go ahead. The player draft was held the other day and now all the players already in the league are being shuffled about as free agents trying to get as much moolah as they can.
Some teams are crawling back tot he fans by drastically lowering ticket prices, theyre gonna come up with package deals, etc.. The Toronto Maple Leafs have the nerve to put 16 of their games on PayTV...
There is really good coverage of the whole thing here.

What's happening with it now then? Is this season going ahead? I know nothing
