I think there is a lot of smoke around this, but the reason they didn't want to renew him was the ridiculous amount of back end money he got on this contract. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if after some negotiating, he ends up right back at paramount.
To Cruise or not to Cruise, that is the question. I think his antics are odd, like the Today show rant about women's medicine, and all the scientology stuff, and the Katie Holmes stuff, but he is still entertaining in his movies.
I'd love for Hollywood to start paying the stars less or make them only take a back end of the profits. If they 'star power' can not deliver, then they don't get the stupidly high price paychecks. Maybe it will make everyone think about how there persona is percieved better and behave better.

Studios would prefer to pay just a set price for a star. These back end deals have been what are killing studios lately. Cruise can earn upwards of $100 million a picture due to his part of the back end.

Tom Cruise has offended everybody in Hollywood!Plus anybody that has been to a shirnk. He should of known that 1/2 of Hollywood has been to a shrink and thw 1/2 needs to go.
I think Tom Cruise's career as a big shot money maker is over. The folks at Paramount must have seen this. Man, why is everyone in Hollywood so bats**t insane?
If I were a betting man, I bet Lindsay Lohan is the next to be shunned.

I seriously doubt it. Even after all the couch jumping and stuff War of the Worlds made $591 million world wide and Mission Impossible III $393 million. That's a lot of bank and let's face it, Hollywood is out to make money.

TC is an idiot I have been saying this for 20 years.
More on the Tom saga. I hope this link is okay with the mods. It's Strictly Business
Interesting article, am surprising how little of the income from DVD sales head in the direction of a production company. I guess he became the equivalent of a tax loophole that needed closing.
Nobody it worth that much money. Movies should not cost $150 million dollars.

Anyway, now his contract is up with Paramount Pictures, they don't want to renew it. We don't blame them.
