Peter Jackson's next movie
I'm a little surprised not to see this posted already. I was reading Entertainment Weekly last night and Jackson is planning on filming The Lovely Bones next.

Is he ever going to do "The Hobbit"? What I mean is is/was he ever planning on making it?
Great news ,I knew already that he had bought the rights to the book ..
Its a great book but it`ll be hard to translate to the big screen but looking foward to seeing what Jackson can do ..

I had heard rumors about The Hobbit and that Ian Holme was even interested in reprising his role as Bilbo, but never seen anything concrete.
Did the whole rights issue ever get cleared up for The Hobbit?
It amazes me that two studios who are both sitting on shared rights to a guaranteed blockbuster (in Jackson's hands) can not agree enough to make a movie and split the profits in an greeable manner.
The Hobbit could be huge, and split into two chapters released one year apart like the LOTR Trilogy, all of us buying the theatrical release on DVD, then the extended 4 disk box set when it was releasesd later. And all those new collectable things from the WETA Workshop...
Money to be made, but no one will settle the issues long enough to make it.

As a geeky freaky fan of LOTR, I have to say I have ZERO interest in a Peter Jackson version of The Hobbit. It's a kids story, it should be made into a fluffy kids movie and take place in a different film universe from Jackson's films, IMHO.
I knew about this for a while now... the book's magnificent by the way.
Never heard of it.
I'll look into it.
I'll look into it.
Wasn't he supposed to be directing the Halo movie also?
I think New Line owns the book rights, but MGM owned the film and distribution rights.
Jackson is producing HALO, but not directing.

With makeup, I think Ian would look fine. Another actor may look jarringly out of place for people after watching the trilogy.

I agree. If I have to kidnap Ian Holme and force him to act in it I will. He HAS to reprise the role of Bilbo!
According to the King Kong Production Diaries, he will be doing two more Kong movies. Son of Kong and King Kong and the Lair of the White Wolf.
I wonder if he would get the money for another Kong movie. The US gross was an impressive $216 million, except when you realize that it cost about that much to make!
that was an April Fools joke last year.

It's not true. Jackson hasn't signed anything but the contract to produce Halo.

I'm pretty sure he has signed to direct The Lovely Bones. I've seen it reported in a few entertainment magazines and now IMDB (though not the most reliable source) is showing his as the director as well. It shows the film to be in pre-production with Jackson helping to write the script.
Also, Ain't it Cool reports that Peter Jackson has told his official fan club that The Lovely Bones will be their next movie.
Peter Jackson does own the rights to make the movie from The Lovely Bones.
