Pierce Brosnan, NO!
I just found this on Yahoo.

Pierce Brosnan Out As James Bond, 007 Wed Aug 17, 3:07 PM ET

NEW YORK - A single, surprising phone call and it was over. That's how     Pierce Brosnan says he learned that his services as James Bond would no longer be required.

"One phone call, that's all it took!" the 52-year-old actor tells Entertainment Weekly magazine in its Aug. 19 issue.

Brosnan starred in four Bond films. He says that before they stopped negotiations, the producers had invited him back for a fifth time.

"You know, the movie career for me really started with Bond," says Brosnan, acknowledging that by the time "GoldenEye" premiered in 1995, he was already 42.

He then starred as 007 in "Tomorrow Never Dies" (1997), "The World Is Not Enough" (1999) and "Die Another Day" (2002).

His departure from the role was a "titanic jolt to the system," says Brosnan, followed by "a great sense of calm."

"I thought. ... I can do anything I want to do now. I'm not beholden to them or anyone. I'm not shackled by some contracted image. So there was a sense of liberation."

Brosnan says he's grateful to have had the role, but adds: "It never felt real to me. I never felt I had complete ownership over Bond. Because you'd have these stupid one-liners — which I loathed — and I always felt phony doing them."

He plays a foulmouthed, skirt-chasing hit man in the upcoming film "The Matador."

"(For this) to come on the heels of my departure from the world of Bond is sweet grace, to play this one as a farewell to that chapter in time — it certainly wasn't planned."

Come on. The Bond movies were awesome, especially with Brosnan.

I think the Bond franchise needs a good kick up the arse to be honest. Die Another Day was pretty awful. I want to see a darker Bond, which is why I think Daniel Craig would be good. Can't see it happening though, it's all about money these days!

The main character in Layer Cake. If you've seen it that is! He was one of the bad guys in Road to Perdition too...

Tooken...that just sounds dirty. Wink

I've always thought that Adrian Paul would have made a good Bond, but he lacks the star power that the producers are probably looking for.

He's doing another Highlander movie with Christopher Lambert.

Clive Owen is my second pick. I really want to see Eric Bana as a super DARK Bond.

Ideally, I think the studio should give the rights to a series of directors and let them go nuts. QT, John Woo, and Speilberg have all expressed interest over the years. Imagine a John Woo James Bond movie with Chow-Yun-Fat as Bond. Or a gritty QT style post-modern Bond played by some ageing B-star like Robert Forrester or David Carradine.

Eric Bana already turned down the role for James Bond months ago. He sounds like a good role.

Pierce Brosnan was decent as Bond but he's not even close to Sean Connery.
I think either Daniel Craig or Clive Owen should be the next bond.

I have to agree with you. Sean Connery was the best.

Yep.
Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton were pretty good.
But Connery kicks both of their a-sses.

Bond needs a makeover, but not using Pierce is disappointing.  I miss the parts where he goes into the labs and tests out the new gagets and weapons.  They have made that too silly, for one thing.

Colin Salmon would be a perfect choice, as he's been in the other Bond series as M's chief of staff, it would be soooo cool if they promoted him to the rank of 007.

no, not because he is black. He just doesn't look like Bond to me.  Could be he would be great for the part.  We'll never know unless he is cast.  Since you broke the shell floyd, is this a minority move?
