I wouldn't be at all surprised if a 1-6 Star Wars box set only comes out on HD/DVD just to jump start hardware sales. If such a box set was exclusively set for HD, then I'm sure, when the time drew nearer, all of us who say we would be happy to wait another couple of years, will have a new itch to scratch and will not be able to resist. Myself included. The same thing happened for me with Laserdisc. I bought a player primarily because of the T2 box set with content that didn't see the (DVD) light of day for another 6 odd years.
When my TV blows up then ill buy a new one, perhaps a HD one, perhaps not.
I (like Chris) am not bothered by the whole blu ray- hd thing

Im happy with DVD until there are no more DVDs, then I might consider upgrading in 5 or 10 years.

Believe what you want, but it's true. I only recently spent £700 on a new progressive scan capable CRT screen, so I'm not likely to splash out on another set for a while. It was five years between sets last time, and even then I begrudged upgrading as there wasn't really anything wrong with the older set.

There's no way I'm spending another £1000 on a HD screen, and the HD DVD hardware will be too expensive to buy for a while (not to mention that fact that there are two competing standards). I'm just not that interested in the whole HD thing - certainly nowhere near as interested as I was when DVD was in its infancy.
Nuts to that I still buy VHS!  It'd kill me to replace all my beloved shiny things!
I own a big pile of b-movies that allready look a little silly being so freaking digitally clean, I can't image I'll need to update too much of my personal collection come the time HD gets affordable. However, I'm pretty sure Star Wars, LOTR, Suspiria (becuase the colors in that film could always be more vibrant), and maybe a few of the newer titles I really love will be the one's I update first.

007 Remastered 2006 Releases.............
Hey! - Just to update you on the 007 'Remaster/HD' releases. ALL the James Bond DVDs WILL be re-released and the first wave is due around the release date of 'Casino Royale'. They were initially due in Autumn 2005 because that's when the new Bond film was first scheduled/expected to be completed. They will include many new extras and from what I read on a reliable Bond related website, all the films have been 're-scanned' for HD purposes.

If I remember correctly, instead of releasing them in chronolgical order, the first seven seem to be a 'selection' of different Bond actors. I hope this helps!

Mark
Well with the new bond due it would probably make sence for a rerelease.
i mean most dvds get 2 releases anyway

No...you don't want that, unless of course you enjoy bleeding from the eyes...

What if he decides to release the original unaltered trilogy?  That's about the only way he's getting more money out of me.  That or if he releases a Wookie Christmas.  Very Happy

I would say that the 6 movie boxset for Star Wars is a no-brainer and as HD is around the corner, I'm sure Lucas will grasp the medium with open arms in time for the 30th year anniversity....
I hope u're right about Bond.

As for the Star Wasr..i would love to buy some great ste with al the episodes in some nice box..it would be nicer than a box of 4,5,6 and 1,2,3 separetly Happy
The general guess seems to be that Lucas is waiting for HD DVD to hit, but that he might release a version for the 30th anniversity of the first film next year. There is quite a bit in the way of extras that he seems to have kept to himself, suce as Ep IV deleted scenes. Also, there's proof on the special featres of the current release that he plans on replacing Yoda in Ep 1, which most likely means a whole 'nuther slew of changes is on its way. I'd like him to do something to make Hayden not look like total s**t at the end of Jedi, or even go back to the way it was...

It's quite likely that the James Bond movies will all be re-released now that Sony controls them.

I'm not sure what the advantage of a megabox set would be for Star Wars unless they decide to create new extras.  The current box set with the extra disc and the 2-disc SEs of the prequels are pretty good.
