region settings on a laptop
hi hows it going, I just got a new laptop and I was wondering how do I configure the region setting to multi-region, it was set to region 2, then it was changed to region 1 when I dvd in region 1 disc, however it says I can only change it another 4 times, so if anyone could help me out that'd be great. I'm using windows media player btw, thanks.

The drive will be RPC2, which means you have a set number of changes before it locks to a specific region. You can either flash the firmware (complicated) or get a software solution like Slysoft's 'AnyDVD'.
yes..the software solution is the easyest way..i recomen DVD RegionFree
okay then where do I get these?
It's becoming increasingly difficult to source software like this because Macrovision et al. are buying and closing them down. Just do a Google search and please don't link to anything from here.
AnyDVD is a lot better than DVDRegionFree, at least the versions I've used.

Because it is! Sheesh!
Like the lady said... Can't be arsed to go into loads of detail, but a lot of DVDs (mostly Sony stuff) that won't play with DVDRegionFree will with AnyDVD.
